    The Obligatory hello

Hello Everyone. i wont waste too much of your time.

i just received my copy of Tangerine Dream and decided to check out the TGR site since i have neer been here before and found this cool forum.

Just wanted to say hello and hope that i can contribute something of worth in the future.

and for a conversation starter. I will be moving in mid summer to one of two places and i am having oh so much trouble. I have narrowed it down to either Mammy or the Hole but am having trouble deciding what factors should weigh my final decision.

    in a nutshell

-JH has the better BC/BC access (a guess since i have never ridden the mammy BC or poked around OB there)

-Mam has a much? longer snow season and open to close dates ect

-Local to other resorts... with JH there is GT wich rocks but also just limitless hiking... with Mam there are a zillion of those crazy cali resorts around

im not trying to start a which is better thread... i would however be interested in some different opinions on which place has what to offer.

and here is a naked girl

Nice girl. Thankfully it Rexed, because people would get pissed if you showed nudity in a thread not including "NSFW" in its title.

Just change it to the link: http://www.centerfold-babes.net/pb/k...lland_5/05.jpg

Dude. The naked girl has to be your sister, ex or current girlfriend, or wife.

I'm sorry, but those are the rules. I guess it could be your mom if she is hot enough.

i don't think there is anywhere in the states that compares to the backcountry around mammoth. jhole prolly has better shit accessed from the resort, but for straight up bc, the eastern sierra are the shit.

I’d say the Sierra in general is pretty amazing. Not just the terrain, but the weather and the snow pack. Still, the Eastside is a very special place. It has everything from mind user friendly yet amazing roadside attractions—VA Lakes, Tioga Pass, Lee Vinning Canyon, Twin Lakes—to 300 mile all wilderness ski traverses and 14,000’ peaks.

You could spend a lifteime in the eastern Sierras. Well, you could spend a lifetime in JH, too, but the Sierras give you the opportunity to pretty much do any activity you want in every season. If you're a little burned on skiing, for instance, you could go bouldering in Bishop or climbing in Owens River Gorge in January for a few days... or biking.

Just an example. The E. Sierras are pretty staggering. Also, if going solo, the snowpack in the Sierras is generally more stable.

That said, I left the Sierras to return to JH (sorry I left the first time).

thanx for the feedback so far =)

also and this might be a touchy question but i dont think there are any rap artist snowboarders here

what about the locals... for instance im 21 and a snowboarder and i love to ride with skiers and/or snowboarders as long as they are laid back. im very into hiking for my turns (spent some of my younger years hiking in the Sangre's) and love the sport for different reason than most (not you guys, but those extreme office skiers)

basically i really dont like the whole skier verse snowboarder mentality and i also hate the millions of lame ass snowboarders coming out every year because they saw Shaun White on TV and think the best features of the mountain are in a terrain park

so in short: which town in more ski-bum friendly and laid back and has a lack of snowboard pimps?

Not sure that either are going to be ski bum friendly, at least not compared to ten years ago.
If you're not into parks, then you wouldn't be interested in one of Mammoth's top offerings (which is not to say they don't have plenty of other stuff)

I don't have any experience with JH, but I'm pretty comfortable talking about Mammoth.

The snowboarder scene in Mammoth is much more about the park, and while 20-year-old pro-hos are fun to look at, they ain't much for doing anything other than being seen. That being said, there is a core group of BC guys in Mammoth including guys like Steve Klassen who won like 280,000,001 world extreme snowboard championships in a row, and a couple of guys from this board and the Mammoth forums.

As others have pointed out, the snow pack lasts a long time. Some years it seems like Spring is just as long as winter (like this year maybe?). The snow ain't as light, but it sure does last.

great feedback once again... i would love to get a chance to expierience the Mammoth BC before i make my "final answer" so i might take a trip to check it out but i cant be sure

so far, even though Mammoth has a "much" longer snowseason and maybe a crowd more my age (but not my style) i am definatley leaning towards becoming a ski bum that came to jackson for one season and maybe never left =P

i was also wondering since i am legal now how the night lifes compare in the two cities... i mean i have gotten drunk at the mangy moose and at Billys haha (i ate 2 burgs in a hour =O ) but last time i went to Mammoth i wasnt of age so i have no idea about that place

anyone got some good drunk stories? =)
