    April Fools - Video TR

I've been feeling guilty for not skiing with the camera much this year, so I broke out the video camera and filmed a sweet pow day in the "bc". I then proceeded to subject myself to hours of editing. In the end (thanks to bcr) I was able to produce this video from 4/1/06 on the South Shore.

    April Fools Video

Riders are bcrider and powderjunkie. Skier is gimpy, with a shot or two of me.

It's not your usual bcr masterpiece, but it's sweet Tahoe pow in April.....and you should be able to tell the skiing (and riding) was gude!

Nice work! Is that on your own website? I've been trying to figure out how to get .avi formats onto the web to keep that crisp quality.
The sierra pow was looking nice!

All technical questions have to go through bcr. He guided me, patiently, through the .avi to .wmv conversion.

    lph - don't know what's up with 90 minutes on a T1!?! Heavy traffic?

awesome video, but the only thing that could have been improved upon was the soundtrack. Conditions looked sweet!

Thanks for putting that together sierra cement! That was a really fun day. Nice edit too for a new-b.

Cold Smoke, re the AVI to WMV conversion . There are probably many ways to do this but this is how I do it. First I save the final vid as an uncompressed AVI file. Then I run that through Windows Media Encoder 9 (free on Microsoft.com). By running it through the encoder it allows you to de-interlace the video and convert it to a WMV file (good for web videos). Hope that helps, if you need help with some of the screen/options in WM Encoder just let me know.

May as well add some pics from this day too.

    Part One:

With the Miracle March we had in Tahoe it would only make sense that April would start off with a bang as well. 8)

Heading up the mountain...fresh snow at 3000ft…yeah it's going to be a good day.

I met pajamas near Strawberry Lodge around 6:30am, homie started his journey at 4am to get some powder…gotta love the devotion!

He was early and spent the extra time making a pb&j sandwich.

We met up with gimpy and sierra cement shortly after and formulated a plan…

…to get some pow pow that is.

sierra cement checking into the whiteroom...

    and enjoying his stay

It was deeper than we expected.

    pajamas takes flight...

    keeps his speed...

    a lays into it.

    sierra cement back for more.

    I think he likes it.

    pajamas enjoyed it too.

    pillowtime

    gimpy got plenty too.

    More sierra cement

The approach was brutal but you gotta do what you gotta do.

    Part Two

By 10am we had three runs under our belt (thanks to the car shuttle) and the day was still young so we headed off for some more turns.

Creek crossing fun…don’t get yer skins wet!

Gotta get up to get down.

    On top.

    Tahoe

    gimpy

    sierra cement

    Dear pajamas,
I’m really sorry I botched the following pics. They powder plumes where huge bro!

    These are better.

    Pajamas back for more.

    gimpy

bcr (thanks for the pics SC!)

    Pretty sweet for April 1st!

    Thanks guys!

Thanks everyone, glad you liked. Yea, The Fall Out Boy song is one of my daughter's songs, and although not my first choice, it has the right pace for the type of footage I had. Unfortunately the format of the songs on my ipod library are not compatable with the ULead software. I'll do better with the tunes next time....if there's a next time.

We found copious amounts of pow this morning again. And although not as light and dry, it was still friggin' deep and fun. There's a ridiculous amount of snow above 8,000'.
