    too frickin' cold....

I don't really feel like going to Vermont later today at this point. supposed to be at stratton for a prof. meeting/demo weekend, and the conditions suck anyway, and it's -7F there right now (feels like-26F) says weather.com - i'm seriously considering cancelling at this point... i think i'd only lose a $99 depost..

my car has already refused to start, and I haven't dared try the landrover yet, cause it was a little fussy yesterday when it was warmer (about 8F) - I'm hoping it will warm up to at least 5 before I attempt to start it.

dog was outside for just a few minutes, taking turns picking up one foot while he went.

Gee, must be rough when the second choice car is a landrover! . My POS car started just fine the other morning when it was -10.

A coffee can full of gas, lit and placed under the oil pan, makes those starts much easier. But then maybe you'll have time to get those emails out if you stay home..........

haha guys...you should know better... if there was any such thing as a Getto landrover, it would be mine.. i just got it used because I needed somethign for a 4x4 this winter that was cheap. it's a 98 and came from an auction because it had been minorly wrecked- $2300 plus another wrecked chassis for parts... so it's got blue and green body panels right now, some dents and large scratches. and i haven't cleaned out the nasty inside yet.. it's leather seats have mold from sitting around for so long.

yah, splat, i could get more done... working on stuff now...

I hear ya. I bagged skiing this weekend as well. HIGH of 5, and I have a nasty cold. I don't think so. Oh well. There is always next weekend.

So I watch some A Hole yuppie walk his dog to the local expresso bistro and tie the poor thing up outside while he hangs inside and lingers over a latte. Poor thing looked like he was getting paw frostbite, jumping from foot to foot.

Benny you should have stuck your head in and said very loudly "Hey, who left the dog outside? Poor thing's about to freeze to death. Which one of you is the owner? You really should go out and get him before he gets frostbite." Would have been good for a multitude of dagger looks at the dude if there was a nice crowd of people around.

I thought about bagging skiing this weekend but I'm going to brave it at Sugarbush. (pray for me) What I lack in body fat I make up for in layers. I should look like the little kid in Christmas Story who falls down in the snow and can't get back up again for the layers!

Next weekend is not even an option for me. It's MLK weekend and I just don't ski on MLK weekend.

Useless. There are no nice people in Mount Kisco. Excepting moi, of course.

This weather makes me thing of the tongue on the metal pole scene from that movie. Hmmm....let me go out and try that.....I'll be right back......

WTF is the matter with ppl? When our storm was scheduled to hit the news was actually reminding ppl to bring their pets inside. I thought "what kind of numnutz needs to be reminded to bring the dog/cat in?" but I guess I give ppl too much credit. Forgot about the "S Factor" that has this country in it's grips.

Poor puppy!!! Our horses were sporting full body armor and they were inside a barn!!! Someone should have threatened to call the ASPCA.

Ula, my wolf-husky of note, used to spend sub-zero nights outside by choice. I would call for her in the morning after a blizzard, and she would break up out of the wind crust where she was buried, stretch and start bouncing around ready for the days tour.

Of course she would not have lasted long down in yuppie New England. I took her to Vermont, and had been threatened by the Burlington police three times by the second day for letting her "cruise".

Guess we scared the women and children.

Well, yeah...there are those particular breeds that are okay outside but the average yuppie puppy isn't acclimated to the cold.

I have a GF that owns a couple of Belgian Tervs - they look very "wolf like" so consequently she gets hassled all the time if she lets them run (even at dog run parks). It's pretty funny because they are both show dogs with impeccable training and yet ppl with random undisciplined mutts give her a bad time.

edit: better picture - other dog had light eyes which is NOT a breed standard.

You just know this cruelty to animals thing has gotten out of hand when people have to put Kevlar vests on their horses!

I certainly wasn't implying that any old yuppie dog should be out in the cold.... but if you're going to live in the cold, a cold breed makes a lot more sense.

Yes, I let Ula run loose. She would run alongside me when I biked. I tried to run her 20 miles each day back then. She was extremely well-behaved, though, and would not kill cats, children, etc. (unless told to)

The police took offense to me letting her sleep on the front lawn of the motel, though. Somehow, I had gotten myself booked into a motel where the local AKC was holding a show, and everyone kept calling to say that one of the dogs had escaped.

Fortunately, I was in town for one of the policeman's wedding (my bro-in-law), so they shrugged us off.

I heard a little tidbit on the news that something like 2 million pets that were Christmas presents will be "given up" within the next few months.
