    Surfing in Guam/Japan?

Anyone been? I've tried looking for info online but there doesn't seem to be too much on either.

I have a job opportunity for three years in either Guam or Atsugi, Japan. I have until Friday to decide and I'm trying to see which offers the best combination of outdoor sports.

Guam looks like it's mostly surfing over shallow reefs, though there seems to be a couple sand beaches on the south end of the island. The other pro is that it's close to Australia and SE Asia. I'll have the opportunity to fly to either, both for work and for extended weekends.

Atsugi is only 17km from the water but I can't seem to find much info about surfing in Japan. I know they have a stop on the pro circuit, so there must be surf but I'm hoping to hear some firsthand experiences about it.

    Thanks!

Not knowing much about Guam OR Japan, I'd say Japan because of proximity to skiing, surfing, sushi, Rice Dreams, and basically anything else.

Guam gives you close proximity to... Guam.

tough call. both have good surf but i think guam may be more inconsistent.

    japan surfing: http://www.wannasurf.com/spot/Asia/Japan/index.html

    guam surfing: http://www.wannasurf.com/spot/Asia/Guam/index.html

the big question is: do you prefer a completely alien culture (japan) or do you want all the creature comforts of the USA (guam)?
