I didn't see it, but I heard they dug him out and then arrested him.

    Fun closing day, huh?

Oh, you have no idea just how fun my day was.....let's just say the day RAWKED. Oh, yes it did.
As to the above episode, I was on the chair, front row witnessing this. moments before we watched an amazing drop in Alta -1....HUGE. Then we witness this...The chair behind me had four trollers on it, we were witnessing this slide/slough happen in disbelief. No one skiing could see him, as he was above the natural fall line, but everyone on the chairs were screaming 'hey' and banging poles and whatnot. The slough occurred just as he got into the pinch of the shute. To be honest, he did manage the slough well, but ironically the groomed traverse created his terrain trap! He was pretty much competely buried, with his board and one hand in the air, but basically on 'flat' ground. Pretty weird to see...

Oh, and the Beastie Boys were....awesome!!!

By badly timing a very unstable line due to the heating up of the snow...probably would have been fine a mere hour before. (but still illegal)it is a MAJOR no no snow zone....

I'm a little lost here. I remember Alta -1. But I can't picture what you're saying. From the chair looking left and up to Alta-1, was the snowboarder to the right of it? Is it a marked-off area (clearly posted)?

sounds to me like he was skiing the forbidden zone above the laramie bowl traverse.

My memory is a little fuzzy from yesterday, but I think my roommate saw it happen. I definitely saw a boarder getting escorted by the cops out of the Ski Patrol room by the tram. I didn't put two and two together though until now. Lots of stuff was moving yesterday. Pretty much all of No Name Canyon slid on a 1 Ft. crown. Lots of natural and skier triggered activity.
