    Dell inspiron problems-

    Long story short-

    this laptop pisses me off.

Sometimes when I click on an item on the desktop (left-click) it highlights that item and like 5 other items around it. Yes, all of them open.

However, that's not as annoying as pressing the keys, and it's like the shift button is down. Sometimes the shift button won't even work, so there's no typing !@#$%, and or in other times, just the numbers....12345...

I reinstalled windows xp, didn't help. I thought then it was a hardware issue until it started doing the same shit with the ON-SCREEN keyboard. Help!

    Hammer?
    Anvil?

Sorry, nothing else to add. Computer glitches piss me off as well.

    Clean it.
Dust or lint is responsible for a lot of weird hw problems.

Take it apart and clean it, eh? I think you might be on to something. Always knew you were smart. Thank you.

And Summit-I laughed. For some reason this morning I was thinking about that glass table all of you wanted to "send" and how I was happy we didn't.

Get some 'compressed air', turn the laptop upside down, and clean out the keyboard. You could also adjust the mouse setting to make it alittle less sensitive too.

Blurred, my Dell Latitude does that as well. If I fall asleep with my finger on the shift key, a window pops up saying "hotkeys have been turned on" Clicking on the option to turn this off sometimes doesn't work, but rebooting takes care of the problem.

Don't blame the machine for your computer illiteracy.

I have a new Inspiron 6000. Sticky keys and buttons plague me too. I blow the shit out of mine with a can of compressed air about once a week. I find that if I keep it closed when not in use, it keeps the dust out and things work better. You're not storing it a back pack while you are dropping those sick lines are you? That would definitely cause anything to take a shit on you

    sticky mouse button.

you should stop doing that late night 'research' with your computer.

or at least wipe off first

This is a Windows "feature" designed for handicapped users. You can turn on and off the hotkeys without doing a reboot. It can be turned off in the control panel. You can also disable them completely with utilities or registry edit:

as an aside, the first thing i always do on a laptop is turn off option to left-click when i tap on the mouse pad. That shit always gets me in trouble.

Umm, milton, do you know anything about these pictures of "Amy" in our Accounting folder?

Dell sucks? I didn't get that memo. I have an 8 year old Dell that I still use regularly to log on to TGR.

I've had my mobo replaced twice in less than two years. The only good thing I have to say is that they've been really good about about overnighting warranty repairs....
