    Legend 3800, 4800

Any good? REI has the 3800 for $200. Might be a nice pair of skis for my wife.
She is really a non aggressive skier but I'm pulling her out west for an extended stay. I need a decent big mtn ski for her. I have been looking for a pair of Zebra Chubbs until I saw these.

edit to add, if these suck, point me to a good light weight chick ski, new or used.

Just the 3800. I missed a pair of 4800's on Ebay cause I was dicking around trying to figure out if it would be a good ski for her. There are soooo many skis on the market, you can get buried in bullshit. Manufacturers are trying so hard to be "core" they are afraid to say "hey here is a nice ski that won't beat the shit out of your wife"

rossi bandit b1w, if she's gonna improve a lot, then b2w. the b1 is narrower and has no metal in the ski and is wood. the b2 is wider and has metal and has a plastic core, it's concidered expert
    No longer stuck.

The only dynastar 3800 I'm aware of is a snowboard...

The 4800 is a very light and easy ski indeed. Great for touring and cruising in soft snow. Less adequate for vey deep stuff or icy snow.

On 2 points i do agree w/ ya...

our skis suffer on boilerplate (ou beton) pistes...i would chose a stiffer GS or Slalom radius ski.

and, the hard crust & frozen crud off-piste...i would chose a wider ski all-round...Dyna's 8800 or Pro's.

original post wrote that wife "a non-agressive skier".
4800's would fit the bill very nicely all-mountain piste and pow.
We do not have a disagreement here, LITT.
Yes, I do believe it would fit the bill. It won't float as a wider ski, but as it is light and nimble, it's good in the deep also, in a different way than a 8800. A very nice ski for skinning in the back country too.
    But I'm curious to see a Legend 3800 !

Basically, the Intuitiv 74 of years' past. A very nice ski.

yeah, I'll be adding that one to the ebay search. I'm always a few years behind gear-wise to save $$$

    I stand corrected.
It's not shown on Dynastar's french (or swiss, or canadian ) website. And i've never saw one on a french ski shop.
But it's listed on the US, or Austrian or german ones...
It is apparently a softer, lighter version of the 4800. (like the 8000 'red' and the 8000 'fibre' ?)

My girlfriend skis the Exclusive Legend (wich is the girl plank of the legend series) and she loves them. They got the same dimensions (114-75-102) and both got "sandwich construction". The exclusive legend has titanal layer, not sure about the 3800. Wouldn't surprise me if these were the same skis with different top sheets.
We did quite a reasearch on girl freeride planks before we got those, and there sure are some nice reiviews out there for the exclusive legend.

p.s. My first post here, so "Howdy" to you all!

Howdy back at you, by tradition,I must ask you to post some neked pics of your girlfriend

I hadn't thought of the Legend Exclusive. That may be the ski she needs.
