    FREE 2003 Boeri Helmet (NEW)

I've been meaning to do this for a while, but the recent helmet thread spurred me to action...

I bought a NEW Boeri Helmet - size Large - last year. Retail tag still on -- $140. It is called "Myto Air." It has full coverage of the ears, but not full face. It is called "blue" in color, but it looks kinda like a metallic dragon green/blue. (fyi, I did buy it on sale towards end of the season - at Granite Cheif in truckee - so I dont think I actually paid $140, but i guess the tag still said that).

I bought it hastily, and when I tried it on this fall, it doesnt fit right -- I had my head measured when i bought it, and the circumference is right, but my head is longer front-back and narrower side-side. So the point is - it has NEVER been used/worn. Brand new.

n-e-way, I dont feel right charging someone to protect themselves.

(PMGEAR - I know a shop manager who sells avy gear at cost for the same reason - something to think about!)

WHO NEEDS IT? Please be sure you fit in a BOERI helmet (remember my head shape issues) size "L."

You pay shipping, but if you live in the bay area or tahoe, you get personal delivery!

Well, you know what I mean!

And I'm goign to throw in a free helmet too. I have a Boeri short, old model, no vents. Used, but never crashed. You pay shipping, pick up at Baker, or delivery at the summit.

To my knowledge they're pretty much the same full price at the vast majority of shops everywhere at this point in the season. If you're an REI member that might be worth taking into consideration. Otherwise helmet deals are generally only at the end of the season or an online find or something.

The Snow Leopard has a big selection and good prices. Best to go to a shop and try them on, though. You could always be unscrupulous and try them on at a shop, then buy online, but I could not condone that in any way.

OK ladies... girls... women... I just got a helmet this season (would never go to the mountain without it now), but my fiancee doesn't want to get one. She says that she can't wear it with her long curly hair . Any suggestions on helmets that fit ladies with long curly hair?

well, i have long curly hair, and i *think* it is a non-issue -- you just pull it back in a low ponytail that sits under the helmet.

it might be her head shape that is the real issue -- that has been my problem...

Hmmm... I can't imagine that no helmet will fit- just that she doesn't like covering her hair up or doesn't want to put it in a low ponytail or braids that work well with a helmet. Personally, if my hair isn't braided I'd be spending 3 hours after skiing getting all the knots out so it isn't even a question. Sounds like more of an appearance issue than a fit issue - has she tried on many yet? There are a few new brands out this year worth a look. Maybe you can convince her based on convenience - vents, warmth, goggles don't fog if you put them up...

    I'm out of suggestions...

Hey detriot-- if you have Michigan BCBS health insurance, you can get a (I think 20%) discount on helmets and other protective gear at various retailers by flashing your BCBS card. I don't have the list handy, but I know Dunham's is one that will give the BCBS discount.

Low ponytail, that sounds like it will work. And she does have a small forehead.

All good selling points. I'm just going to drag her to REI this weekend and spend the afternoon trying on helmets.
