Sluff Vertigo - Kirkwood Photo Slut Vertigo

I was skiing at Kirkwood today. The mountain was covered with interesting wind-transformed powder that felt a lot like soft cream cheese. I brought both pairs of Bros for others to try. I have met a lot of maggots by sharing the stoke of the Bros. However, there is a maggot I met for the first time today. None other than Sluff Vertigo. By trying my soft Bros Sluff Vertigo became Photo Slut Vertigo. He was so inspired by the Bros he decided to take them skiers left of Hells. Other Kirkwood maggots can figure out where that is. Here is a picture:

Wind buff doesn't even begin to describe it. It was kickyourmominthehead rad today. Cream cheese is actually the perfect description. Super fast and super smooooov.

Sweet, Vets thanks for meeting up with my brother today too, he sounded pretty happy with the day and the Bro's. That breakfast queso is awesome.

Pow4 and Arty, yesterday Kirkwood had its own unique version of Mammoth's patented wind-buff.
Fluffballs, thanks to your brother for introducing me to the breakfast queso. It will become an arrive early/pow day prerequisite. Tasty!

Mammoth snow was a freak show this wknd...snowed all day Saturday...but with 84 mph SUSTAINED winds (142mph gust clocked around 3pm), depositing was strange. Sunday, bluebird...wind-hammered wales, troughs, banks, sastrugi, butter and sugar all mixed in. wierd fun stuff.

I was 5th or 6th chair up on cornice and was pretty suprised by the dull thud my skis made dropping off one the cornices my first run. Interesting stuff. Nice and speedy.

Seemed like the entire state was out yesterday.

What a great bluebird day at the wood. My face was a little tingly last nite. Was't even thinking sunblock. That cirque snow was just too good to leave unadulterated. What's up with that rope?

Great seeing and meeting so many maggots on the hill!

Love that fucking insane voicemail you left me after you nailed Once!

Unfortunately I had a premature evacuation at 1:30. Skied about 5 laps of 6 and 2 laps of Wall solo. Pali was mankalicious! Damn these 88-waisted Igneous mogul skis.

Yo Sluff- I saw you barrel into the double-secret parking lot 5 minutes after I did. I tried to call out but you ignored me

I almost exploded in that bomb-hole while absolutely flying down the Vista. Last second holy-shit ollie got me over it. That thing was in the middle of nowhere right in the gut of the Vista. I don't have any idea why Patrol chucked a bomb there.

Yeah, I felt like a complete moron taking off like that. Somewhere along the seemingly endless ride up 10 (I swear that thing has been running at 1/2 speed the past couple of weeks) I totally spaced and forgot to wait up top. Then there was the group of guys talking about hitting Once also. So I beelined it over there before they could poach my line.

I had my best Once run ever. I aired in from skier's left, hit the little windlip up top, accelerated to mach looney, proceeded to take flight over the cat tracks, another shot of downhill racer air over a windridge, hit a bombhole going stupid fast, survived, and then caught massive air over a little ridge while finishing with a super judo chop landing. It was like my adrenal gland had exploded.

That bomb hole was just past the convex entry. BTW, I saw Sluff's run from the chairlift. He was moving very fast and smooth. Made that snow look a lot better than it was.

Some other photo opportunities: The Cirque is looking very filled in for the competition. If anyone wants full resolution 3072x2304 for study, send me a PM.

I don't know who skied off the sholder over here by the Wall, but I assume he is reading this.

The problem of the day was the masses that the bluebird weather brought out.

Vets - I really like that photo!! Nice. Are you going to be at K-wood this weekend? I'd like to try out the bros again. Do you have the 179s? Hope to see you there. Hopefully we'll be there both Sat. and Sunday, but that's TBD on the weather conditions for camping out.
