my balls are somewhere in my ribcage just reading about that-- it is -33.3 degrees farenheit WITHOUT the windchill right now.

doesn't look like i'll be touring this weekend (although last winter durign that long cold snap in early january eventually the winds died and nhAlpineturns and I skied the gulf of slides when it was way below zero and were comfortable. but this is ridiculous).

-47F is the record low temp up there. Looks like they may beat it this weekend. Yikes. I think I'll stick with a Fuddrucker's burger, numerous light domestic beverages and my television tuned to the Pats this weekend.

Goo! Thats cold. I climbed it a few winters ago and it only got down to 15 or so with 60-80 mph winds. I was lucky. I still froze my damn hands though. Anyone tried skiing in Tuckerman's?

Me and a buddy hiked it some years ago, and it was so cold that in the short peirod of time it took for us to get from the parking lot to the bottom of the headwall:

    1. every bit of food in our packs froze, killing any chance of lunch.

    2. Buddy's boots were so cold and inflexible that he couldn't even open them up enough to put them on. three people trying to spread them open couldn't do it. it was a long walk back down to the car that day.

looks like the wind has been kicking up there lately? Not a whole lot of snow either. Looking at making a trip out there the end of May, so hopefully things start picking up again soon.

God, I went up there in late march and it was freezing, and of course my boots froze solid and were impossible to get into. What ensued was a twisted ankle from trying to get the damn boots to open. Now, I keep toewarmers in my boots if they are on my back.
