    mounting / remounting question P12/P14

Hi I am new to the forum as a member (so please be nice), but have been following your adventures for some time.

I have done some searches but do have questions left:

    here is the situation :

A pair of Gotomas with P12 wide brakes with mega lifter plates (looks like there is a plastic rail connecting toe and heel piece, just for reference)
A pair of Dynastar troublemakers with P14 80 mm brakes & 6 mm lifterplates.

Gotamas have to go and will be replaced by LP's in 186.
would like to swap the brakes between the bindings and have the P14's + wide brakes on the LPs+ 6mm lifter plates AND P12's plus 80 mm brakes on the troublemakers (and buy new 6 mm plates for these).

1)I saw someone posted changing brakes on P12/14's is not like on P18(read that brakebinding thread) , is this correct ? if so , pointers anyone?

I know I have to watch the screwlengths.

2)Does removing binders from skis and putting on some using the same holes in any way compromise the solidity if done correctly (using woodglue, etc..)?

    any input would be appreciated.

would someone recommend using the "big" lifter plates on the LP's ?

    thanks a lot,

    Jan

    Kill all the telemarkers
But they’ll put us in jail if we kill all the telemarkers
    Telemarketers! Kill the telemarketers!
Oh we can do that. We don’t even need a reason

P12/14 brake is removable. P18 is not (easily). Buy the wide brake and you'll be fine.

Generally, no issue, so long as the screw threads aren't destroyed. More of an issue in a ski with no metal. LPs have lots of metal, no issue.

I would go lower than the Maxplate. You could mount it up with the Maxplate and try it. If you don't like it, buy some shorter screws and mount your bindings flat (using the same holes).
