Talking TR: Flatwhite, Fine Dining, Greybird, Inlaws, No Wind & BC Powdurrr in Jackson, 2006

So I missed the hospital air session, one which I'll probably never arrive to complete terms with:

http://tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49102 - Call the Doctor. I think I'm Sick. A Hospital Air TR!!!!!!!!!

....but life goes on....and life last weekend included a trip to our nation's least populated state.

    Dates: March 16th-19th

Location: Jackson Hole, Whyohmin' (Just south of Montanur')

Players: 666, Mrs. 666, and Mrs. 666's family from Chitown (brother, sister-in-law, 3 nieces, tons of princess dvd's, and of course, Grand Master Father of Mrs. 666.)

Gameplan: To ski some BC gnar with Sven (our local guide that originates from Los Gatos, uh...that's wierd), and spend some quality time on the slopes with our 4 year old twin nieces, and the rest of the family of course.

Synopsis: Der sum guud eatin' up there en Jackson Hole. As far as the skiing is concerned, flat-light and fog engulfed the top of the mountain for most of the 4 day trip. Glimpses of hope shimmered on the lower slopes but failed to give the upper mountain a much needed break from the fog. It snowed about 15 inches the night before we arrived, so we knew we'd GET SUM in the BC. The next few days gave us a licking of a few inches each night, cloud cover, and some more substantial snow on the last day of riding.

Music: Ed Rush & Optical - 'Glass Eye'

Day 1: Sven & 666 go to Four Pines BC to score some cold smoke:

Sven getting sucked below the current...

    Not so close jerkoff.....

Trying to push snow to your freezer from here is not an easy task....

Snowgator almost bit off his lower torso in this shot...no blood shown....

Flat-light fury of fun...Sven earns his wings...

Lower down he decides to stick a 246 footer...yep, that's the new world record!

Mrs. 666 takes a peak of the pics from the digi-cam, and decides she's hungry as well...hungry for powder that is!

Mrs. 666 on the top of Four Pines...."Wait a minute, I like this"

Sven goes for the Leroy Jenkins shot...dork, yes I agree....

Thankfully, Mrs. 666 brought her POWDER goggles today....

...looks like she made the right decision (and to think she didn't want to ski the BC)

    Sven searching for loose change...

"OMG A FACESHOT"...actual transcipt of this shot, stoked 4 sure...

Now she wants to move to Jackson....

Dinner at the Four Seasons....Yes, I had the Antelope and it was yummy (sorry Greydon!)

Surprisingly, they have a lot of night-halfpipes at Jackson, and I thought they were a hardcore off-piste mountain?

Day 2: Groomers with the inlaws, find out that my camera is F****D for no apparent reason, and to spend quality time with our future maggots...

*Any photo from this point on required a manual hand pull on the lens of the digi-cam..great fun, you all should try it*

Hannah after SLAYING the Teewinot chair!!!!

I was unaware they had a tram at this place, so we decided to take the 2nd to last box to the summit.

It starts to clear...of course at 3:30 pm....with Brother-in-law 666 doing some much needed management while he's away from the office...

After 20 minutes of back and forth debate of the last lap being between Cody and Horseshoe, with dinner reservations at SEVEN, Sven, Friends, and I decide to roll into Horseshoe chute into Granite to get the most in the least amount of time...

Sven on Upper Horseshoe..nice and steep...LEFT!

RIGHT!....fanboys of Sven gave him some encouragement...

    The 666 point of view...

The air in the middle is at the highest probably around 11 feet, and at its lowest around 5.2 feet...just in case any of you want to give it a go...it comes highly recommended.

A quick jaunt to 7 Dwarfs, then to ABC chutes in Granite...Sven and I arrive out of Granite Canyon at 6:05 pm....better get ready because dinner is in town tonight!

Old Yellowstone Garage...you know its good when they have signs like that. Sorry Greydon, I got the Veal...

DAY 3: About 3.1 inches of new, we roll groomers with the Fam, and meet up with some old friends.

That's right, its M Tierney - the creator of every Igneous ski that carried graphics....and his father who just arrived. It was great to catch up with both of them...and honestly made the trip.

Nothing exciting went down this day, so we're off to dinner...Sssssssssnake River Grill anyone? Bottom line - get the onion rings. Greydon, you should be aware that I had the Pork this evening.

Day 4: We have time for only a couple runs and one BC outing before we have to get on our "cancelled" flight. We also learn to get really good at manually ejecting the lens of the camera.

Sven and I sat on top of the ridge waiting for our bluebird chance to roll into Central Couloir...20 minutes later, we bagged it and went down into a completely filled in Spacewalk chute...er Cakewalk.

I love watching Sven ski....its just MAGICAL...

Sven after his ducked-straightline (under a tree branch) into the open...

On our way to No Name....good thing we didn't roll to the summit of Cody, its starting to nuke. 666 bored of flat-light...

"Sven....where the hell are we? Do you even know where we're going? Seriously Dude, its puking out now..."

    Ok, I forgive you...666 & LLLLLEEERRRROOOOYYY JJJJEEENNNKKKINNNNS....

Oh yeah, that's right Mr. Untracked, bring it on...

Some serious deep shots in this sequence, but Sven forgot to hit the "continuous shot" mode on the camera....here's the first shot...

...And the last one...use your imagination of what went down between these shots...

666 trying to set off some slough...

666's beanie makes a rare appearance on digi-film....

Yep...I think he likes this place....

Sven...on a rocky face that is now buried....

    Sven...is that really your name?????

Sven does a jumpy maneuver thingy....

    Showoff.....

To end the trip, we had a cancelled flight out of Jackson, rented a Tundra to drive to Idaho Falls, to then fly to Salt Lake, to then fly to SF. Arrive at apartment at 12:00 am.

Oh, and to compare, here's last year's trip with our same guide, Sven:

    http://tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26493

    END of TH3 TR.....

    Made possible by:

    &

...and of course the most gracious hospitality of my extended family

    Bwaaaaaaaaa.

Where the hell is Marv Albert already? His commentary is long past due.

666, that was a damn fine TR. A DAMN FINE TR!!!

    Thank you for that. Seriously.

And if you haven't tried it, I highly recommend the Cadillac Grill next to the Cowboy Bar for some good eats. Sounds like you guys ate well enough though.

I need a vacation in my own town.

Nice work, all around. Horseshoe looks awesome. So much to do this weekend....

Significant Digits, always wanted someone to use that for a band name (I am such a geek). Oh well, still have the Math and Physics Club.
