    V for Vendetta.

    Very good.

Anyone else see it and care to discuss?

    It was terrible.

For a movie that was supposed to be taking place in another country twenty years in the future, it sure was unusual to see movie-extra protesters carrying "down with Bush" signs.

Hollywood has really outdone themselves this year --- taking the anti-Bush, anti-hetero, anti-family, anti-conservative, it's cool to hate-your-government agenda to new all time lows.

I thought it was pretty damn good.
"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, "Wow, what a Ride!"

Sorry this movie isn't for dumb people.

    Next?

    Just Kidding,

The footage you are refering to was supposed to be in the US in the here and now. The events with Evey in London took place in 2020 14 years from now.

It's hard to say if those were movie extras or real footage of a protest.

Speaking of all time lows have you seen the presidents numbers lately? Somewhere around 36% approval rating right now. Apparently the rest all hate America!

I heard there was a lot of controversy about how Natalie Portman makes out in front of the "wailing wall," an israili memorial.

For that reason, a lot of jews are protesting seeing the movie.

I'd like to check it out, so I'm interested to hear what everyone who's seen it thought

Just got back from seeing it, and I was definetly entertained the whole way through. After all the Star Wars flicks I was worried that Portman couldn't really act, but was impressed with her as well.

What's the big deal? She's Jewish.

Portman can act. Don't you remember The Professional?

Those new Star Wars movies made everyone act badly. Even Yoda sucked.

Agreed, the dialogue, in basically every Stars Wars, minus Empire, is awful.

yes, but the dialogue in the prequels was especially horrible. I felt bad for the actors when I watched it (especially the 2nd, the love scenes were as smooth as two people throwing cinderblocks at each other)

Saw V for Vendetta on thurs after lunch. I thought it kicked ass. The whole time I was wondering if that cross-dressing Wachowski brother did any directing while in drag. Hugo Weaving was incredible. Yeah, Agent Smith aka Elrond, man that guy has a voice and delivery. The V-word sequence is pretty impressive.

Good plot and leverage of the Count of Monte Cristo flavor. I could have used a little less obvious symbolism though. Is it still symbolism if even elementary children pick up on it? It was funny to hear the people around us walking out of the theatre. Wow, their post-film analysis was mindblowing.

I'm a sucker for futuristic, fall-of-the-decadent-utopia, revolution movies. I eat that shit for breakfast! slow pitch.

Edit: I just learned that Hugo Weaving was also the voice of Rex the Male Sheepdog in Babe: Pig in the City. Impressive!!

Just saw it today and was very impressed. I had the same feeling of, "wow, what a damning indictment" that I had after Syriana. The end started drifting to cliche but I thought they saved it just in time. I still need to decompress it, definitely need another viewing I think.
