Calling for snow through tomorrow night. Probably won't kick in though until this evening and overnight when the flow turns to a more favorable NW. The flow is not very strong, so orographics are weak. But since it is spring time in the Rockies, any convective shower could lay down quite a bit of snow quickly.

Wouldn't the colder temps inhibit convective showers?
A lot of people earn their turns. Some just get bigger checks.

Convection is caused by static instability in the atmosphere (from a low pressure system) and heating from the sun. It is more prevalent in springtime because of the longer days...

was up this morning... what a ridiculous way to start the day.

at least a foot in most places. light snow, not wind blown yet... fresh tracks from top to bottom 5 times.

The Berthoud Summit snotel site shows about 2 inches of settlement for the last 24 hours. WTF?

I saw that too and wasn't expecting much. Then I get up there and I'm not seeing my skis as I'm skinning up (off the normal skin tracks). Not sure of the name of the bowl that the snowboarders build their big kickers in, but that sucker was fluff and no tracks.

I think part of it is that it's been accumulating and staying cold over the last week.

I might be. Will see how much new comes down tonight before I decide for sure. Started out the day in SuCo, and finished out with 3 quick skins at Berthoud. It was snowing pretty hard when I finished up at about 5:30. I didn't venture far out, so probably still plenty of goods even if it doesn't snow much tonight, if you do more of a tour, but close-in stuff was starting to get beat (but still shots if you looked for 'em).

If anyone else is interested in Wednesday, PM me digits, and we can touch base in the am.

Hmm...am planning Monarch Pass Thursday, but if Berthoud keeps skiing well, I'd be ok not doing the 2.5+ hr drive.

I will know for sure tomorrow. We are discussing that or trying to go up to Forest Lakes/Radiobeacon from the east side.

Keep me posted. Yes....Monarch (bc)... At the moment, I'm thinking I'll just stick closer to the FR for Thursday...but we'll see what the weather brings in the next day...they're due for another good shot through tomorrow as well...I'll go wherever the best snow is.
