Thanks all. Almost adopted a fox hound this afternoon, but with a gimped leg right now I think the prudent move is to wait for summer. I miss the hell out of Cordy though. He was the best convalescence dog- ear scratch therapy works wonders

^^^^yep, I call mine puppy prozac, as my life is just so much better when they are around. With no dog in my life, I am one incomplete person.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

Molly pup is in her 13th week of chemo. 7 or 8 more to go. Cost is about $2,500 for another year of life, maybe two. She is a great dog and worth the bucks.

Only one of the drugs kicks her ass, Vincristine. She is highly sensitive to it. No appetite, won't drink, dehydrates. Unfortunately, we are into the every other week cycle with it. After a day or so, she's back to normal.

    It's just a dog.

16 year old malamute is getting closer every day. Doesn't do much these days but is still lucid and has here moments. Has a disk issue in her back so she can't get up very well and struggles with strength in her back legs. She takes meloxacam everyday and that helps. She's close but still provides me with a ton of happiness and I'm not ready. I don't think shes suffering otherwise I'd do the deal. Just a super old lady playing out the string. Sigh....

^^^^That post made my day. I had no idea a Malamute could live that long. I love my Maya so much, that even at 3 I dread the day that I lose her. Knowing she could live to 16 is great news. And your girl looks fantastic for 16. My Malamute:

She's been a great dog and it's an exceptional run for her breed. Best dog I've ever had.

That is a good long life. Our husky is 7 today, would be stoked for another 9 years with her.

Vibes for RIO. Dakota goes to the vet on Friday to most likely confirm what I know. She just struggles to walk so much. No strength in her back end anymore. It's time but man I don't wanna goodbye, I love her so much.

Best to all of you, condolences and vibes. Remember all the good you did your dudes. On a happier note- as soon as I'm off crutches we're picking up a 3yo foxhound from a hunter down the road. I miss my guy like crazy, but I'm stoked to love on a pooch again soon.

My old girl went to the vet today. Vet said he didn't see a reason to do anything drastic. He said she seems relatively healthy with some neurological stuff in her back. Changed up some medicine and I get to keep my girl for awhile longer!

Our three year old sisters. Couldn't ask for better companions for my daughters (and for mom and dad). Love the dogs.

I just found out that my hirsute best friend is gone. Farewell sweet Booker, you were the best dog ever.

I feel so guilty, I had to move and he couldn't live here so we were going to get him this summer and work it out so he could be here. Now he's gone....

This thread makes me happy and very sad. I dread the inevitable day when I will have to say goodbye to my boys.

Molly just finished her 20+ weeks of chemo and is in remission from her lymphoma. Feeling frisky.

Back to the vet with Dakota tomorrow. The last thing we tried to help her rear legs/back didn't work and she's actually worse. Walking on her knuckle which causes her to fall and not be able to get up. No bueno. The vet is going to want to try a steroid injection but I think I'm going to throw the white flag....just seems like it's time to let her rest. Hard to know what the right thing is and when it's right.
