Should I be wearing a helmet?

It's not like I ski challenging moutains or anything (SoVT mostly) but I sometimes think I should be wearing a helmet in case some fucktard crashes into me on a crowded day. I just feel like I'd be a poseur or a something. Then again I'm gonna be a daddy soon, so I dunno. Opinions? Suggestions as to brand/model?

Helmets are a good thing. When I patrolled I saw some interesting wrecks where people were hit from behind. Yeah, that would suck.

    Thumbs up

The first time you ring your bell hard enough to see stars you will have paid for the helmet ten-fold.

    Get one.

Gotta wear a bucket. Especially as a dad. Ask Stall how he feels on the subject.

I rock the old-school Boeri Q-ball. If you are worried about image, buy one of these and have people think that you gape. Then go skiing with them.

Go and try on several helmets. There will be brands and models that fit your noggin better than others.

    Always wear one.

No damage done, but I got taken out last weekend by an out of control snowboarder.

Well, I did damage his ego somewhat in the aftermath....

    definately.

no one thinks twice about wearing helmetz when they ride the lifts for mt biking. there are still rocks, trees, and for more idiots on the hill in the winter. i started waring mine at 14 and never ski w/out one.

Wasn't there a phUnk thread that showcased his helmet appreciation?

I was skiing with my mom at Keystone 4 years back and a boarder hit her and kept going, she was glad to have her helmet. Further down slope the kid had ricocheted off some other skier and was being pulled from the trees. Fifteen minutes after that, patrol stops the lifts to bring in and out the Flight for Life heli. Brain vs. tree, brain lost.

I have a giro flint and I'm a poser. I'm a stylish poser, but a poser all the same.

On the other hand, I'm a poser with my brain intact and as finer be functional could as working still still works though brain functional.

    get one. wear it. werd.

a friend of ours died several years ago from massive head trauma on a high-speed runout that he'd skied _many_ times before. RIP, Matty...

after that i've worn a helmet every day on the hill and BC since.

Ditto on damn near every word!!

Must have and you will never go back to a beanie. Truth, MOE, Lumpy, Flykdog and I were discussing this same subject over apes-ski brews at Basin.

I see more helmets in Utah slopes than not, I think. At least I see a lot of em.

I looked for quite a while and found the Giro 9 was the shiz and fit perfectly!!!

airlifts & neurosurgery suck more & are more expensive.

wether you choose to wear ahelmet or not depends an how much you feel the contents of your skull are worth.
    is it >$100 or <$100
