Just got a call from a buddy saying that the Bromley-Flatton area was decent...Nothing fabulous but certainly worth skiing...
I will be up that way this week
    Flatton-Thursday
    Bromley-Fri
Not sure where I will be for the weekend...
If anyone is around let me know if you want to hook up for some runs

MassLiberal and I hit Jay on Saturday. Conditions were variable in the glades but sweetened up considerably when we hiked up Big Jay and skied the back side. The untracked on the way down was about knee high with a fast and fun little run-out at the end. When we returned to the front side, we were blessed by one of the TGR celebrities for a run, but I'll let MassLiberal tell the story .

Anyone go there much? How often are the slides open?
The slides are inconsistent and 6 hrs away for me. It's tough to predict when they will be open so I find myself alot when I can't just drop everything and motor on up there. That said, I do really like Whiteface and Gore also by the way.

What a strange winter. If we did not have these lake affect snows that hit northern vermont consistently there would be absolutely no snow. On the flip side if we did not get so much rain there would be a substantial base right now.

Skied Jays on Sat and had a pretty good time. Took the FBs out for one run and decided quickly that it was not a pow day in the trees. Proceeded to ski just about every glade and trees in between trails that I could find. Did a little bushwacking off of CanAm, that was interesting. Did find some knee deep in a few gullies.

Was good to see Core Shot in the parking lot. Would have been cool to meet up with a few maggots during the day, especially to hike Big Jay. That sounded like the place to be.

The Alchemist Brewery in Waterbury rocked for HH, definitely a must stop for good brew near Stowe.

Telefest at Pico on Sunday, learned a few more techniques which was cool. Still not quite good enough to go off-piste yet though. Hopefully next year when the knee is 100%.

nice!...........pssst, listen, dude, I just heard about a great stock that I know will triple this year. Sure thing - my cousin's wife's best friend is the CFO. Now if you give me 4 grand cash, I'll get it in early for ya', OK? This will be sweet! We'll both have enough to buy that bridge going to Brooklyn that I hear is going cheap.

That actually was SB yesterday. The skier in that shot is John Atkinson, longtime SB skier and new Director of the Catamount Trail Assoc.

She managed to bat most of them out the way and muscled a turn out of them without losing too much momentum. Unfortunately she apparently used all her strength (and foresight) and commenced a straightline towards the pines in question. Halfway there she produced her patented shreik and braced for impact.

Had the pleasure of hitting up Jay again yesterday and Stowe today.

Big Jay was off the hook, snow was waist deep and fluffy. And most of the sneaky lower angle glades on the mountain were in good shape.

Stowe: Lots of fun, Goat woods were essentially untouched, And ended the day with a nice run down the Bruce Trail to the Matterhorn for tasty beverages and burgers. Not a bad Monday and tuesday.

Skiing with J-Rad on Saturday was great. Actually met the infamous Highway Star (or so I think), but hard to tell, as there were no race stock binders.

Was at Jay on Tuesday looking to make up for some lost days. After going through a random barrage of questions and a quick search of the car at the border, the morning was fairly average. First tracks down Everglade were highly overrated as the base was still solid, fast, and noisy. However, goods were found in the usual spots so silence could be achieved.

Around 2:00 I was already thinking of bagging it when the Tram opened. Sweet. Haven't played on the Ridge much this year so I went up for a gander. Seems the wind had freshened up the Saddle nicely and it was looking very straighline-able. With Bros on my feet it didn't seem like a big deal to point off the short inrun, hop the few little exposed rocks, land in the windblown pow and then skim over the ice before cranking a big-ass turn on the apron. Nice. Going back for seconds I chose a line to the skiers right. After the usual scramble through the scrubs I got in position for a hop turn to big bank turn to small air to apron. Once again: nice.

It really takes a weekday to partake in Tram laps and, for that reason, I'm thinking of heading back tomorrow (Thursday). Anyone gonna be there?

Sick and ashamed and happy (and it's all about the scrambles),

    I could get a cold.....

But I already took monday and Tuesday off, so it might not be to likely.

Took a pretty similar line to yours on Monday, good snow to be had, for sure, just not in everglade. The snow was the worst on the mountain. If you get a chance, make the hike over to Big Jay. The snow was extremely deep, and not too tracked.
