Gear Me: Time for new skis

Ok, I'm feeling like 5 years went by without me noticing. I probably have about 70-90 days on my Bigs, and they aren't all that "big" anymore.

I'm blue-eyed, 175lbs, 5'10". I liked the versatility of the 188 Bigs. I demoed the 193 bandit xxx and skied for a day on the G41. At the time, I was running a lot and only weighed about 155. The new weight isn't all fat, I am stronger. When I was 155lbs and trying out skis, I thought the G41 was a lot of ski. I'm not a powerful, racer-type skier. I use gravity instead of muscle. I set my dins to 11 and I don't really ever eject, but then I'm totally sweet and I never fall.

Seems like everyone is on shorter skis. I have a pair of fruity 180 carving skis. They are way too short. I feel like I'm on snowlerblades. I've always liked a long ski.

    I used to get 60 days a year. Now it's more like 10 - 15.

I have freerides on my bigs. I might just keep that setup and mount alpine only, or get a whole new set up. I really have liked the freerides.

Considering Bros - which ones? Gotamas - what year/size? Pocket Rockets (too soft?) or whatever the current model is, B4s, and I'm a satisfied Dynastar customer.

I'd like to hook something up with year end discounts...

Edit: I screwed up a homonym. It's fixed.
I just hope there isn't TOO much powder.

Where are you going to be skiing, RG?

That would help narrow it down.

By the way, you abandoned us, man. We were in the hour of need and where was R-G? No one knows! You just went away and we had to flounder our way all the way through to the present without your help. Thanks a lot.

Now stick around for a while - you owe us.

Also, everyone knows it's spelled "jibe", you've had that shit wrong since you were a teenager, son.

Probably has something to do with him being a heels fan.

    Must hate DOOK.

I'll be skiing the same old places, JH, Alta, etc. Just not as frequently...

    I've enjoyed my hiatus.

I would say bros or the mid fat kingswoods. Either is a pretty good deal right now- if you come over to the Kingswood group buy you would be looking at right around 500 bucks shipped.

Good thinking but I would go Bros or Fat Kingswoods. Bros if 100 underfoot is gonna be enough, Fat Kingswoods if you want to go fatter. Good deals on good skis from little companies with killer warrantees and solid people to stand behind them.

Okay roll I am just dishing advice to you this AM:

I'd say the two obvious choices for you are:
KW Midfats (hell or fats) the group buy is super tempting

or (wait for it, you knew it was coming anyway)....

Big Daddies (03-04 are available for SO GODDAMNED CHEAP).

188 Bro stiffies, it's just the way to be. I'm roughly the same measurements and likely with less experience, and ski a 188 soft on the EC, and would be on the stiffy in a second out west. Other than an Explosiv, there's not a more versatile ski out there.

Disclaimer: I'm a PM Gear Owner (but of course, that came about because of the skis).
