Living in the Midwest did not suck today

Road closures, sustained 40 mph winds, rates of 2 inches per hour, totals near 30 inches... springs my ass.

Went to the UP this weekend, well more like sunday monday and tuesday to hit up the porkies. Sunday was great, the ideal spring day. Started out a little crunchy but softened up quickly. On sunday they said we were supposed to 4-6 inches by monday morning.... that shit never came! But by 10:00 AM the snow was blowing and the waves on Lake Superior were 4-6 feet high and raping the shit out of the ice build up along the shore. We made 6 runs and then they closed the lifts down temporarily, a few minutes later perminently. We got vouchers and headed 7 miles back to White Pine. On the way, one school bus and two cars all ditched it. It took us 30 minutes but we got back to the motel safe even with our rear wheel drive only truck. The snow was sticky as shit on the roads. The compaction nearly turned it to ice. In fact even today driving home there were huge stretches where the blows had ran several times over and the roads still shown no pavement.

Anyway, back to skiing, today was prime... sort of. Because of the high winds and high temperatures the days before, you either hit two feet of powder or frozen corn. There were a few trails that were out of the wind that were perfect though. All in all I'd say I saw about 50 people the whole time I was there, Porkies are the greatest. Wish I could have skied Bohemia though.

This just so happened to be the one time we didn't bring a camera so no pictures.

Anyone here ski Bohemia and/or got any pictures from the weekend?

Living in the midwest generally sucks everyday.

    At least I'm pretty drunk.
