    First Sight

Want to win a free Powder subscription? Put on your thinking beanie by March 20. Entries must be fewer than 600 words.

The spin: You round a corner and then you see it: a pale peak with lines so breathtaking (or terrifying) you fall to your knees or swerve the car onto the shoulder for a longer look. Or maybe it's a pretty girl or stylish boy in ski clothes, or a fetching new set of powder sticks, that suddenly catches—and won't let go of—your eyes.

The emotion of that "first sight" is powerful and revealing. Tell us what happened and how it changed (or still changes) your life.

    How to submit: http://www.aspectjournal.com/themes.html

Finally, here are not one, not two, but eight zebras:

Yeah but the fame and glory of being published on a hack Internet site lasts, like, forever.

If I rounded the corner and saw that stack of zebras, I probably wouldn't drink that much again. The end.

Ok, so this isn't ski related but contest rules said it could be about a girl so here is mine.

Walking into the first day of class I was stopped dead in my tracks. There she was, busy texting away with her phone in the back row. I was instantly drawn to her. She had that I just woke up and I still look amazing natural beauty that is hardly seen in today’s world of cover up and too much mascara. One look confirmed that she wasn’t like most of the other girls at this university. No J-crew sweater, no Burberry purse and not even a North Face fleece. She had a style all of her own from which confidence resonated. After causing a back up in the doorway I took a seat on the opposite end of the room as I didn’t dare sit close to her. Beauty such as this is intimidating and makes even the most outgoing men hide in the corner with their tail between their legs. A few minutes after class had begun I had already lost interest in what the professor was saying and instead found my eyes wandering in her direction for another glance, and then quickly reverting back to my notebook to avoid eye contact. I sat there wondering why I hadn’t seen her in any of my classes before. We obviously had the same major if she was in this class. Soon the class ended and everyone shuffled off. I wanted to go talk to her but words escaped my mind and mouth and she disappeared before they returned.

I never missed this class the rest of the semester, and I finally did muster up the courage to say hello a few times. Unlike in my daydreams we didn’t fall for each other and live happily ever after. Real life is hardly so cliché. That day was a few semesters ago and she hasn’t been in any of my classes since. I see her walking around campus once and a while and it always puts a smile on my face. I still have that image in my head of the way she looked, so pristine, so self-assured, and I hope it never leaves.

I count nine zebras. 7 drinking, one back right and the rump of one behind the ones drinking.

Nope, one of the drinking zebras just has a huge goiter on his ass. Rookie mistake.
