they may be screwed when it comes to math and science, but their creative writing shows promise.

I teach adults a 5 day class that covers 4 fundamental concepts and dozens of expansions and applications, but like to start each presentation with a brief "get to know you" round table.

The final exam has a "what are the 4 questions we started with?" Q.

In fairness, I give a student full credit for the answer "Whats your name, How long have you been in the business, What question's do you hope this class will answer, and What's your outside of work interest/hobby?

(Yes, I made sure they actually know the "real" answers too.)

Too often, teachers can be scared when confronted with creative and curious minds. I think that humans are naturally inclined to ask "why", but get that beaten out of them in factory schools.
Good runs when you get them.

I have a strange respect for the type of person it takes to so openly not give a fuck.

I always find it fun slipping random words into essays to see if the teacher's awake, but this stuff sucks. It's too forced.

Today's word to slip in was 'Lesbians', by the way. Get the work back tomorrow.
