Bank of America sucks just as much. I found a newly issued, unsigned, card at a trailhead recently. I called it in and reported it lost and strongly suggested that it was identity theft. They didn't want any information about it

Damn, I get at least 2-3 of these applications each week. I shred them about 75% of the time, but sometimes I'm lazy so I just rip them up and toss them in the trash. Looks like I'll be shredding them all now!
I think that the human mind is unique among all other forms of life in that it can spontaneously create unique thoughts and provide unique behaviors. Instead of rewarding that uniqueness we, for some reason probably because of cultural and social necessity, we chastise unique behavior and reward conformity.

I always thought I was being diligent doing FOUR tears and not just "in half"... agggh.

Would they want to steal my identity and get my student loans, though? they can have that

Easy method of "shredding" -- rip card app in half; one half goes in the recycling, other half goes into the kitchen trash compactor. Recycling goes out every 2 weeks. Kitchen trash gets all sorts of nasty crap thrown in there. Chances of the 2 halves meeting back up again... ?

I burn 'em in the wood stove. If anyone can collect the ashes once they fall to the ground and can reconstruct the original piece of paper is welcome to take my identity with absolutely no complaints from me.

there is one caveat to opting out. if you are looking for credit, you will get much better offers from the ones they send you than if you go looking for an aplication.

That site would provide a hell of an oppportunity for identity theft if it was spoofed.
