    Good site.

I think the problem is that people do not their research before supporting many of these groups. They just pay the 40 bucks and slap the sticker on their car because "it sounds" like a good concern. But they rarely know the details behind where the money goes or what the true agenda is.

Alot of these groups started out with a good cause, but over time they have strayed from it or been hijacked by a select few with a personal and sometimes extreme agenda. Bloated salaries and wasteful spending as well. I remember reading about the Humane Society givings its bay area manager a 200k slaary and a down payment for a house. The bigger ones are usually the worst.

I agree with the general concensus that people that don't think for themselves should be kicked in the clit. However the group that I hate the most is PETA. There head lady believes that animals have more rights than humans, and that no matter what all pets are slaves and that they should all be set free. I know that if I tried to set my dog free he would never leave my yard even if there was endless food across the street. And thats not because he doesn't love food.

I'm sorry I meant to say APPLIED KINSEOLOGISTS, my mistake...

And within that subset, it depends who it is... there are many who claim to be able to tell whether a substance is good or bad for you by having you hold it in your hand and then testing your muscle strength to see how the quantum effects of holding an "unhealthy" substance immediately weakens your muscles
Man you cannot believe the number of crackpots that sent me shit like that as a way to heal my inner body.

I totally agree with all the hating going on in this thread. There are some types of people who you just have to hate.

    My favorite activist experience:

I studied for a year at a superfancy English university (Cambridge). Full of a bunch of rich kids who liked to drink to excess while enjoying being rich. I lived in this room near Great Court and by King's Parade, where most protest marches would go by. So one morning I got up and there was a march protesting in favor of higher wages for the bedders (basically the maids+housekeepers in the dorms). Lots of chanting and singing about university greed and the need to support the workers.

That afternoon there was another march, populated by many of the same people (though this march was a bit bigger). It was protesting rent increases in the university dorms. The rent was going to go from like 800 pounds per year to 1000 pounds per year, which was still less than 1/3 of the market rate for the size of the rooms in this area.

I honestly don't think anybody at the protests saw the irony.

I think ive told this story before.

I used to work on the Pacific Coast Options Exchange. One day about 50 "anti globalization" protestors stormed the exchange. They were mostly college age, as they usually are, and dressed like elves. They knocked the 50yr old security guard on his ass and ran around the exchange until they latched themselves together in the pits. We were all too busy trading so we mostly ignored them, which iritated them. I asked one, why she was here? She said we were trading with the big corps and that was terrible. I told her "no, were trading options on the internet with your parents". Then that old security guard, who played college ball, stuck one of them at full speed and she pissed all over herself. Anyway they left and proceeded to protest outside with about 500 others. None of us cared at all. It was pathetic.

They were basically kids, who were probably being used and brainwashed by some middle age losers. It was weird though, it was like a cult or something.

I told one of the policemen outside "officer may I reccomend using your knightstick?" To qoute eddie murphy.

MLK does NOT fit any of the following: "weak minded, uneducated, gullible"
nor did he trade in misinformation; nor did he perpetuate conspiracy theories and believe that only his group knew the truth. MLK had common sense, education, and was capable of honest debate. He knew what he was talking about.

Did I offend you by harshing on the colon hydrotherapy?

Frankly, most of his peers didn't think that. Ever read Letter from a Birmingham jail? They thought he was reactionary and impatient.

It's not that I'm being reactionary and assuming (nice try), it's more that I take exception to people making such broad remarks as you did, and creating threads with titles that are clearly meant to provoke (such as "I Hate Activists." - I mean, did you really expect overwhelming support? If so, then aren't the maggots a bunch of moronic sheep anyway?)

I don't even know why I post in crap like this. All I do is get send my blood pressure through the roof.

Comparing the average knuclehead activist to MLK is a mistake. Lately is has become trendy to be uneducated and outspoken on almost any issue. I think it is those people that piss Summit off. It actually diminishes the efforts of people who are pursuing noble and worthy causes.

Dude its still just the internet. No need to get all worked up over it. Just voice your opinion and laugh at everything that you think is BS, and if people call you names, say your wrong or don't agree with you then oh well. Its not like we are trying to cure cancer.

I always thought that activists calling non-activists a "bunch of sheep" was pure comedy grade irony.

You've said it much more succinctly than I ever could.

Actually it was more to vent than provoke... and if you read this thread, there isn't much love for moron activsits. But, if you like them, let me know and I'll be sure to send the next one I encounter in your direction.

Why would our being annoyed at morons spewing misinformation without invitation classify us as "moronic sheep"?

I for one am a fan of activism, no matter how extreme or "annoying" as long as it is coming from people who are knowledgeable in the field they are being vocal about.

For example, Cal Berkeley activism(whether it is left or right) is far more tolerable than say, uneducated Texan or delusional hippy activism. Hopefully, if I manage to keep my grades up and string together a few coherent paragraphs next fall, I can engage is some Berekely style activism of my own, just to spite Summit.
