It's currently spitting snow in Breck. Looks like they're calling for a few inches tonight (3-6).

Friday Night: A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 7. Wind chill values between -5 and zero. Very windy, with a west southwest wind 35 to 40 mph decreasing to between 25 and 30 mph. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Saturday: Periods of snow. High near 21. Wind chill values between -5 and -15. Windy, with a west southwest wind between 25 and 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 9 to 13 inches possible.

They need it bad....looked like May instead of March down there a few days ago. Rio Grande basin is at like 48% or something terrible.

Well, Keystone was most definitely not the place to be today. A nice one inch layer of snow on top of the frozen crap we've had the last three weeks. My new Bros rail on the groomers at least!

I know you guys think Breck sucks ass and all, but it was fairly nice in the trees yesterday. By afternoon the scaping from the frozen underlayer was gone...

Just got back from a few laps on Monarch's BC. The sun was out at 10 & snowing heavily at 12. Boot top to knee deep & basically untracked 'cept for a few from yesterday that weren't quite filled in. Seems to be bonding to the dust crust better than I expected it would. It's only up near the divide though - lower down (Garfield) only got a couple.

    Base: 80"
    24hr new: 12"
    48hr new: 30"
    72hr new: 30"

    and

    WC =

    Report Time : 1:53:14 PM
    Last 24 Hours : 24 inches
    Last 48 Hours : 34 inches
    Last 72 Hours : 40 inches

But... as for the SJ's BC... Sketch

    Hmmm.... Wolf Creek or Aspen?

Got some reports from Snowmass that indicate more than 4" has fallen. And Aspen has nightlife; but, Wolf Creek has had 40"!!!!

...WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM MST SUNDAY...

THE WINTER STORM WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM MST SUNDAY.

PERIODS OF SNOW...HEAVY AT TIMES... WILL CONTINUE TONIGHT AND THROUGH SUNDAY. THERE WILL BE BRIEF AREAS OF CLEARING THROUGH THE WEEKEND. IN ADDITION...SOUTHWEST WINDS 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH WILL PRODUCE AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW... AND NEAR WHITEOUT CONDITIONS AT TIMES.

and WC's temps are cold too = good snow not the SJ cement.
    also from CAIC:
Our highway forecaster on Wolf Creek Pass says it's snowing and blowing as hard as he has seen it.
A buddy from the Valley said yesterday at WC "reminded him of his childhood days at Loveland" - 'nuf said for me. You know it's good.

    Two problems:
Saturday is day one of the National migration of Texans on spring break to Southern Colo. = crowds of 4,000+ expected - thats a lot for that lil' hill.
    and,
with that much snow I wonder how long it'll be before they close the pass... thats a long ass haul just to have to turn around & come up with plan B.

Come in from the east side thru South Fork... no worries about the pass. If it weren't so damn far for me, I'd be down there in a second.
