    Magic Mountain Radio add

Anyone else in the Vermont area hear this ad? My favorite line is, "Hear at magic it's all about the love" I tried to find a text version of the add online and failed. They have been playing it a ton on the radio lately. How they can afford this is a mystery. Since skiing there with 17 other people on a saturday is wonderful for fresh lines it's not so good for expensive ads........

A friend of mine heard that. The funny thing about it is that the web site was wrong. It says magicmountain.com & not magicmtn.com. Dopes! When I mentioned this to the GM there, he had no idea they even had an add going. He thought they probably got it on trade & the "marketing guy" set it up. Typical.

I love Magic. It's good to here it's open again. Fun trees, haven't skied there in like 15 years. Thanks for the memories.

They have no idea what they are doing over there. The marketing guy is actually a lower 20's something kid with next to no education. I guess it pays to be a son of one of the owners.

The ads are still playing on the radio and they have been closed for a week or two. I have heard rumors of an ownership change. Hopefully they can turn things around. It is a great area with so much potential.

The homepage says "Launch Summer 2006." Launch what? It's summer, great time for something new from a struggling ski area.

Yes, it's been sold to some lawyers from CT. They bought in for only $3M & supposedly have another chunk of change to make updates & improvements. One of the big improvements that could happen would be to let go of the current management & the "marketing director" bozo. Magic suffered this year, like many of the ski areas, with a lack of natural snow - but, you could bring your rock skis or scratch up your board & still have some fun there. We've got our fingers crossed for next year.

Who knows what they're doing?! They don't know what they're doing. I heard a rumor that they're trying to get some mountain biking up there.

The young kid who does the website has gotten so much shit for it being so piss-poor that maybe he just shut it down to avoid further embarrassment.

I also heard that one of the other new investors is somehow connected to the Morgan Stanley fortune. If so they should be able to do some good things there. Hopefully they don't change much. Some simple updates and a commitment to lay down a good base in the early part of the season is about all they need.

I also heard the radio ad again last night. They changed the web address to www.magicmtn.com. I still can't figure out why they are advertising now.

Met one of the then(?) owners a couple of years ago who said he and 4 other guys from Mass had just bought it. Maybe they sold out to the guys you are talking about?

"if there's not enough snow, ticket sales suffer." well, duh. I've been up here for three seasons and still haven't bothered going over because of conditions. Hope this works out well, i.e., they don't turn into Okemo before I get a powder day or two.

It skis better than it looks. Give it a shot next year. For the solitude if nothing else. I skied several days being the only person on the red chair. Haven't been in a liftline in years. Bad for business, but having the place to yourself is always nice.
