    Mt Rose / Tahoe

.Yep we have been getting the goods this past couple of weeks.

I hit the east bowl parking lot @ 7:40 AM today 03-07-2006
I took my time gathering my stuff and getting to the line (Third chair @ 8:20AM)

It was slightly overcast off and on light snow, but the entire hill looked like a MOON SCAPE! It was just so smooth everywhere

The snow was only about 4 to 6 inches deep and had a creamy firmness, but there were no bumps anywhere! The steepest lines were covered with this creamy smooth snow; I did some of the fastest laps I have ever done here!
I got 7 chair rides along with adrenaline pumped rides down in 1 hour. Then I left to head done the hill, as I left the parking lot it was snowing HARD!

Did what I needed to do in town and was back on the hill @ 11:30.

The Chutes were open! And the usual lines had been worked! But the paths less traveled were still up for grabs, I started down the Yellow Jacket gate and hit the tree and rock covered Nose @ the top of Charge and cut into the trees to the right of fuse. This is a line that usually scares me, but there was this perfect layer of 10" to two foot of perfect snow! GOT DAM I FELT GOOD!!
Then the sun came out!! you could now see all the terrain features, I ran into Bio-Smear and his new? lady, I managed one run with them before retiring for a beer and smoke break. They both rip.

I had a GREAT DAY firing on all cylinders all day +++++++++
Here was what was left about 3PM still hero snow

And that all I have to say about that

    Looks good!

I checked the snow report this morning -- said only 5" or so, and I had a pile of work to take care of, so I had to pass on today. I'm hoping Thursday or Friday morning will dawn with 10" of deep fluffy pow.

Yeah the pics of MTT jumping into Cutthroat sucked. It was pretty impressive in person though. Here's a few of my woman today at Rose. She's my old lady, MTT. We done been shacked up for a long time now. She made me ski from 8:45am to 4:00pm without a break for lunch, merely a cold hard Tiger's Milk bar on the Chuter lift.

Yeah, back to the grind. I gotta work overtime to buy another helmet. I'm a weekend warrior with a Friday off every other week. Save some snow until Sat.

I saw MTT from a distance and took a run with Biosmear down Saddle.
It was a reallly good day. Not deep but enough pow and chalk on East Bowl and Rose side with nobody around to have a major fun. Chutes were outstanding with soft pow and plenty of face shots.

At times I was all alone on a slope and felt like I was heliskiing.

This Feb and March should have us launched into a loooooooong spring skiing session!

    Baby Steps

    OK
    Here is nothing (Really)

So from my view here I am droping off a cornice into a real steep pitch
Scary? I think I am trying to fly here

Here I am landing the drop probably 10' below where I started from, it felt almost strait down to me, but pictures don't lie, I obviously REALLY WANT TO FLY

And the turn I was feeling good here, I did not fall and everything was gonna be ok, would you belive I ripped the rest of the run from here doing big sweeping turns at high speed (I was RAD)! Glad there are no pictures of that to burst my bubble.

Thank you for your time, and hey check out the snow @ The Rose Today

Next weekend (1-1/2 weeks) let's hit it! I'll definitely be at Rose both days. (This weekend I'm slumming it at Vail for a conference and leaving for the airport in 5 minutes).

Looks like I'll be up there Friday afternoon and then last minute decisions on Sat/Sun for Rose or Kirkwood depending on the conditions...

Those are her Explosives. She swapped the Phat Luvs out and ran the CMH Exploders the rest of the day and raved about them. "I think they're faster" she said. Ha, gotta love her.

Gonna watch the wx for friday morning, and prob hit that at Rose.

Superb snow at FlatStar yesterday (Tues).
Snow showers & sunny periods all day. Just superb.
The skied through parts, soft topped bumps, changeable, were hard work.
But, man oh man. Trackless in the trees. Gliding along...real fast. No problem landing airs from the wind-rows. The snow just soaks it up, and straightens you out. Sweeter than sweet.
First day skiing solo. Work for wifey
    Ripping for me
At last LTah's getting what we missed in December

Jumped on the Zephyr chair at 1315 today and was greeted by 2" of fresh, a 20 MPH wind, 60 cars in the lot with much less people, and windbuff everywhere .

Procdeded down skiers right of Bonanza in perfect, creamy goodness. After that straight to El Cap gate. Went skiers right of El Cap proper into the totally untracked runs surrounding Captivator. Beautiful, untracked, buffed perfection all the way to the Chuter. Followed this up with 2 more hours of mostly windbuff and untracked-didn't have to look too hard to find the perfection . Detonator and Fuse are now obstacle free. Wind was working its magic on all the lee side ridges. WOW.

Finished off the day with some untracked off of Silver Dollar and the trres by Cape Kennedy.

    Gotta love afternoon goodness.

Tomorrow, 0830, if the minimum falls overnight. Damn work @ Noon. Storm door is open through next week

I need some deepness. We haven't really gotten a really deep day this year. I'll be in the lineup tomorrow morning, MTT. See ya there. Any other mags...I'll be wearing the token red pants and grey shell.
