I seem to have perfected the toke the crack-post-exhale method lately.
Geze had the heels with the long, thin housing for the springs that was bomber. They were also all metal. Some idiot got hired from.... wait for it... TY-FUCKIN'-rolia and talked them into doing a "step-in" plasticised mid-level binding line circa 1989. Those pieces of shit sucked and were the ones under basically permanent recall "as needed" during my years in a shop. The Racing binders and "expert" level ones were so good that Rossi/Look bought them out from bankrupcy and basically took that design, modernized it a bit, and is still making them. If you look at the p-14 it's not much different than a 90's era Geze race binding.
Also, claiming ROSSIGNOL was trying to get on VÖLKL skis is ridiculous. It was Marker that was selling them on the combo idea being espoused by Solomon first, followed by and Rossignol and Atomic, Marker's selling point being their German sister company.
IMHO Marker's only problem is being over-engineered. They outsmarted themselves AGAIN (remember the "Automatic" heels that released sideways and opened automatically?) trying to keep us "safe" and keep our knees intact. If what you say is true and they're getting back to basics then all I can do is applaud them.
I know that I missed having a whole generation with the logic toes but my current 1200 ti free's have been idiot proof. Granted I'm a short, lightweight gaper but I ask my bindings for a lot and haven't had a problem. I had a few backseat episodes due to serious water ice and some bony section avoidance maneuvers at Jay this week, again with 0 problems. I will say though that I am more confident when I'm on my Tyrolia Cyber D8's.
glad to hear that there is some people who don't hate marker also. Maybe I got my, "who approached who" mixed up, but Rossi was definately trying to hit that side of the market and geze, at the time, was a cheap opportunity to do so. I am interested in that solomon test. I guess some will always have their favorite gear...I know I do, but give credit where credit is due. I hope we can all grow from this, and stop bashing Marker!
