    Let's build a bike...

I just pulled the trigger on a new Azonice Steelhead Pro XL. Now I need to build it up.

I'll be using it mainly for trail riding and freeride type stuff, so some gears are a must.

    Thoughts?

    Fork: '05 Marzocchi Z1 FR
Head Set: FSA Pig DH Pro
    Stem: Azonic Shorty Stem

    Cassette: SRAM Powerglide
    Chain: SRAM
Cranks & Chainrings: Truvativ Holzfeller Crankset 22/32/e13
Bottom Bracket: Truvativ Giga Pipe Team DH
    Pedals: Azonic A-Frame
    Rims: Alex DX32
Front Tire: Maxxis High Roller 2.7
Rear Tire: Maxxis High Roller 2.5

I've got more suits than Liberace, but less than Eastvailhucker.

    Sram X9/X9 Triggers
    E-13

E-13 is pretty much a certainty.

X9 is possible, unless I can find a set of XT for much cheaper.

Are you interested in selling any of the parts separately??

I want a good build on this frame, but it needs to be on a reasonable budget.

Probably going to go for a Z1 up front.

    Bang for buck components, IMHO:
    Juicy 5s
    Pike or Z1
    Hone cranks
    Montani Semper Liberi

    Nice.

I have a set of Alex DX32's in my garage for the time being. They are heavy, but I'm used to riding a nearly 50 ound V10, so it'll still seem light to me.

Well, 50 was an exaggeration...probably more like low 40's now that i've added Deemax's, Risse crowns, and few other mods. Still a pretty heavy rig.

road gap pedals (sealed cartridge bearing), they have a lifetime warranty, nice thin profile, and are grippy as hell.
get rid of the splinned cranks and bb, they break. the new technology is much better, especially on a freeriding hardtail (tough on bbs).
but more importantly, tires, they make the biggest difference. I am riding nevegals for the shore and usually blue grooves in the interior. I used to swear by michelins, but they are expensive, short lived, and not worth it unless it is pissing rain on you all the time.
lose the front derailer, run a 34 or a 36 ring, and through some sram on the back

I would pay triple to have X9 over even XTR. OK, well not quite; but I think you get my drift.
