i can't really see MD9 holding back in the qualifier.

i can see MD9 looking for the biggest, scariest fucker around and lawn darting into the abyss, then grinning like a mad man through the subsequent adrenal twitches...

First off. I'll probably will be in Utah during that time period but I am most likely going to reserve the time there for filming. There is still I chance I might enter but mainly it's dependent on conditions.

Second. Stick to your style and don't over push yourself. These things ain't worth gettin hurt over and if you remain true to what's fun in skiing, you can't go wrong. Don't try to win. My experience with a comp was that I didn't see any lines that were fun. I'm sorry to kirkwood mags, but the drops in the wood are typically fat to flat, and flat landings suck. So I just decided to straightline the whole thing with three small airs in the line. I came to the bottom with a smile on my face and ended up qualifying for finals the next day. Have fun, don't kill yourself and insure yourself that you'll have a good time no matter what place you finish.

Cool. It sounds like there's more interest in this than I had thought.

Raddam, I think athlete check-in is on the first and the second is the qualifier. I think the later dates are for Skier X. I'll be out your way for all the Colorado Freeride stuff. I may have to try and get a tour from you before hand.

alka, good advice. I doubt I'll go too crazy unless the conditions warrant that sort of behavior.

Powho I'd be stoked if you were up on the hill going crazy too. What about you P-funk?

Good luck Altachic, I'm sure you'll kick ass.

Don't forget what Sarge had to say about comps in his Powder interview....FWIW.

I wholehearteldy support copius and conspicuous consumption of alcohol during this event. If anyone feels they need a support group to help support our fellow mags in a supporting role please feel free to contact me for support.

Woods- Its in a different canyon, therefore a different world. Come along and imbive to your hearts contents and then some...promise to find an abandoned 'troller or maintenence shack for you to sleep in when at that level. Frizzo, your home turf...whose drivin' home?

BTW-dates? Just so I can plan my over consumption of alcohol and look anxiously forward to doing so, while making sure I deny any and all allegations of personal problems with booze.

Well, I feel like I'm skiing pretty well right now. I think I'll probably enter. I entered the qualifier two years ago, and finished 24th of 60. Nothing too impressive, but not bad. As has been mentioned, stick to your style - push your own limits, but don't try to do stuff you can't do. Ski fast, smoothly, and in control.

As for the dates, I did a little research. Qualifier is the 2nd, with the semifinals on the 3rd, and the finals on the 4th. The 5th is a weather day. The 6th is skiercross, with the 7th as a weather day for the skiercross.

The qualifier is limited to 65. It costs $75. It costs another $150 if you qualify for the semifinals.

Go to http://www.usfreeskiing.com/ or http://www.freeskiers.org/sections.p...ticle&artid=22 for more info.

I'm still on the fence - I'll probably decide by the end of next week.

Damn just reading this post has me stoked. I’m not even going to be in it. Will be out on Tuesday to support the maggots that make it.
