    NEED some ascenders...

Hi, I'm going on a caving trip and have been doing some mine exploration lately and have found a great need for some ascenders. However, I need the kind that have a handle on them.

Petzl, CMI, and Jumar all seem to make them but new they are SO expensive. I'm hoping someone out there has an extra (or 2) that they could part with for cheap.

    Thank you.

You're doing mine exploration requiring the use of ascenders?
Are you retarded? A tip, if you want to live long, avoid abandoned mines.

Haha. Damn, you're either really hardcore, or dumb, I can't quite decide.

Maybe abandoned mines just bother me because I know what's going on...I suppose if you were the average joe, they wouldn't be that scary....

    Structural engineering major

I'm actually in a structural engineering major so I'd say I have a little bit of an idea what is going on. Though I don't know as much about gases, cartridge masks have become an essential part of our adventures (depending on the mine/cave). I've been called an idiot before though... Anyone know of any ghost towns within 400 miles of S.L.C. that might not be in the standard guide books?

If you ever have any questions about that kind of shit, shoot 'em my way...mining engineer here
If you're ever passing through northern nevada (I-80), give me a shout and I'll show you a REAL underground mine, not one of those abandoned piece of shit deals
    Be safe.

    Bruno River

I'll be spending a week north of Elko fishing and mine hunting near the Bruno River in June. It's way off the map, too far north-east for you probably. Mine engineering... What kind of mining?

    Paul,
Sweet offfer, I'll drop you a line when I'm back thru the area!

Got a chance to go into the old Kennecott copper mine in McCarthy,Alaska (in Wrangell St. Elias national park) a few years ago. We spent three days wondering around in there, it was one of the sketchier things I've done for sure, but it was pretty interesting.
