    PSA: don't overshoot the LZ

Yea, so not to state the obvious, but really think twice about "hitting it with just a little more speed".

I decided to take "a little more speed" into this kicker I hit 10 or so times earlier in the day (it was a "park day"), which led me to completely overshoot the LZ by 15-20 ft. Tried to ski it out, but caught an edge at speed, crucially torquing my right knee. (xrays are negative on right shin, so I guess that's a good start).

The ER completely wasted my time ("uhhh...so it's not broken"), aside from injecting my ass with some crucial painkiller, giving me crutches, a knee immobilizer, along with a prescription to some painkillers. So now it's wait time 'till the ortho.

Of all the gimp allstars out here, can somebody tell me what torn ligaments feel like? I can barely place any pressure on my right leg, but the fact that I can gives me hope that it's only some sort of a strain, as opposed to a tearing of any C's or L's. The pain has marginally subsided in the past 2 days (this happened wednesday night), which seems promising. My skiing plans for spring break are obviously shot, but hopefully not the season. Let me know if this sounds like a tear, or whether I should just stop being a pussy and man up.

That's not exactly what I wanted to hear, but thanks for the heads up.

From my experience you usually know the millisecond you tear something. Go see an orhto.

I don't know much about tares, but you can definitely do stuff with broken bones, possible fucking yourself up worse in the long run. Get checked out, there's nothing to lose

You have to get an MRI. When I wrecked my knee, I didn't know what happened, thought it was just a strain. I put ice under it, had a beer and an anti-imflamm, and continued to ski for the rest of the day. Then it happened again on the last run. Turns out I blew the ACL and tore the meniscus. I'm not sure which happened first. And my knee didn't even hurt that much once the intial pain subsided.

You just described exactly how I blew my acl in 2000. Demand the MRI even if they think "you just stretched the mcl".

Which side does it hurt? MCL can be better than ACL. My MCL isn't torn, but was definitely badly sprained (who knows about my meniscus???) but it hurt like damn, couldn't walk for a week and still can't straighten my leg (hence my previous post on this forum). But now I have a feeling it'll come back fine without surgery. Onced I also had a loud pop (NSR) in my MCL many years ago, and after a few months of rest and no doctor visit it's now 100% fine, so who knows??
