    SLC Area Homeowners

My wife and I are starting the trek out to Utah on Tuesday and the house we are buying will need some work. Any of y'all know of some good places to go for quality but reasonably priced? 1) Flooring - preferrable Pergo. 2) Granite for kitchen counter-tops. 3) Carpet 4) Cabinetry

If you have referrences on good contractors, we could use some leads there as well. In about a year we'll likely be replacing the roof; gotta get rid of the old shake shingles and we're looking to replace with asphalt ones.

Thanks in advance for any leads you can provide! Beers and grilled meat provided in appreciation of solid recommendations.

For Laminate (pergo) go to www.ifloors.com. You dont need the Pergo brand, everyone makes laminate now and you can get some great stuff. Try to find something with beveled edges it looks real when you lay them down as planks.

I was in the business for a while and I know people who have worked there and bought from them.

    good luck

Thanks Cono, we'll definitely check that out. I had to say "pergo" because that's what most people recognize but we're definitely not going to limit ourselves to that, especially if it's more cost effective.

I asked the staff at TGR - turns out no one here really knows or cares.

    Sorry.

Not sure why, but that comment put tears in my eyes from laughing.

Same here. Only mine are tears of sadness and despair. If I have any left over materials after the project I'll send a sample to TGR and then you'll know even if you don't care. One outta two ain't bad.

Ok, I'll play nice. "ASK TGR" is a forum where those with questions for the TGR staff can ask them and then get really bad advice. Try the general forum for a better response.
