The entire time I was looking at that tree I couldnt decide if it was really dead or if it was really really dead. Thanks to Ty and lph for setting me straight. Well dead or really dead the snow in the living trees below it was incredible. I cant believe that there is snow so soft and light still untracked 3 days after the last storm. Im stoked to get out there tomorrow and lap up the remaining powdaah before the warm temps muck it all up.

After staring over into Thunder Bowl this afternoon I am beyond stoke to get back there. Incredible. New skis or avy gear. After seeing that its probably avy gear 'cause dang it looks like fuuun.

Oh and Tyrone I was spotting that Paul Ruff cliff. You can nail it brotha.

I give the weekend 4 stars. Friday was pretty crappy, but the snow was so sweet, it was worth the gale force blizzard. It was nice to see the crew however. Numbers were in the 8 to 12 range throughout the day.

Due to blackouts and a hottie snowboarder (please refrain from critical comments here), I ended up in what I thought was going to be hell - Heavenly. Turned out to be one of the best days in a long time. Killebrew opened and no one goes there. Had definate first and SECOND tracks through gate E and had third or forth tracks by ducking the rope just inside of gate B. It was so not fair. Instead of dealing with more hell, drove over to California and lapped Gunbarrel for the last 2 hours. The bumps were amazing. My best lap time was 10 minutes. I know it could be done better.

Sunday turned out to be an amazing day at the 'weed. hardriders 20' ice waterfall to "hot tub" landing proved that there has been a SHITload of snow in the last 10 days. Pencil Chute is another amazing conquer as was the "famous" California Chute exploration by 3 of the crew. I can only imagine how much went off Saturday, because Sunday's version of the crew looked like a ski infirmary.

Today was another fantastic day. With 10% the people as yesterday around the hill and good conditions, it was a blast. My thanks to hardrider and lph for confusing the hell out of me will all the freaking names of every little rock and chute on the mountain. I need a glossary and a map for all that.

    ...and then there is tomorrow.....

Hell yeah Tyrone, I was just refreshing my memory with this post (was at the wood during this stretch too, but not w/ the crew) - great timing. Here's a shot of Upper Sham from below taken last Sunday...

I think I see them, but I hope they don't imply the line I am thinking. Care to draw it in?

I'm on dial-up right now...so too long to drawn 'em in and upload new pics....

but anyway, they're the set that lands right below the cliff on looker's left then straightlines across the slope out of the pic to the right. It wasn't that burly of a line...just different. I think dropping in from the top via the usual route would have been more dangerous....obviously, because you know the steepness, lurking rocks, and the tech nature of the first two turns up there.

By taking this line, I just had a 10-12 foot acid drop to mush and then a straightline out. I'm more comfortable landing airs in mush/slush than in pow lots of times, so I'll I had to do was hang on for the mach loony traverse. I didn't stop until I traversed out to Big Jim's nearly

I'm gonna do a pull up next year!

That's $$$ Ty. The conditions were ripe for landing - soft just like you said. On Sunday, I enjoyed exiting chair 6 to the left, making my way past the patrol shack, checking to see if the traverse trail below was clear, heading down the ridgeline w/ steady speed, then launching off the lip straight out onto the face of whatever that run is called...What a rush!

Thanks for the bump Tyronne. While my number of days was down this season, the quality was way up. That was my best skiing of the season. I miss those jobless days.....
