Grandaddy - just like the fambly cat

This album straight up rules. Better than Sumday, but not quite sophtware slump (one of my all time top 10-20 albums). So many good tracks on here. It opens with a little girl asking "what happened to the family cat?" over and over. The cat is dead and gone (much like the band, they broke up) and everybody's struggling to give the little girl (or the fans) an answer. At least that's what I took from the track and the album.

Early favorites are "rear view mirror", "skateboarding saves me twice", "Where I'm anymore" which is the weirdest retro tune with a "meow meow meow" chorus that somehow works perfectly. "elevate myself", "campershell dreams", "Disconnecty", "This is how it starts".

Sucks that it's their last album, but oh well. I was worried it was going to suck after picking up "The diary of ToddZilla", but they hit a home run. Easily the best album I've heard thus far in '06.
