If you look at the video Tbar posted...the far skiers right has a rollover about 5-10 ft above the "cliff" part of it. If you come into that with a bunch of speed, you can launch off the rollover, have a 15-20 ft air that is then stompable. If the snow is pretty soft, that's what I'd go for. I'd say it feels better to haul ass and ride away then possibly snap-yo-self in a bombhole down to the current frozen layer.

If you've been to the chin, you've hiked under the most obvious 20ish footer, the "Rippy Cliff". However, the takeoff is usually wind scoured, so it might be a no go.

Caddah, do you have any of those clips online? I've never been witness to someone spinning/flipping off it.

Yea the smaller side part, definitely has some forward distance to be considered about. That "Rippy Cliff I've never seen not be bare rock covered in ice. Wind blows everything off.

I can direct you to some 20+ foot drops to flat in the Hudson Valley area.

Much better stuff with better landings out in the Planets and Oz. Then there's Hell Brook and the cliff band above the entrance. Hell Brook is the !@#$%^&. I know 10 years ago there wasn't as much competition to get to it but now there is a crowd every morning after a storm ready to climb. Seek these names and you shall find the goods my brother. PS the River Bed ain't what she used to be, the ice storm in the late 90s brought some trees down that mess up some of the lines us old skoolers used to ski. Maybe it's been cleaned out ...but. As we all know the gold of Stowe is not on the map but it's definitely off the ganjala. Omega!!!!!!!

skijunky...dug up those clips. right click....save target as will do the best I think. hopefully they work. if not let me know

this first one actually probably illustrates some of the things that have been said on this thread. I go first, try the 7 and land on my fuckin head...but ski away with out any major damage. Snow was nice and soft. Then Tyson hits it and lands in a previous crater, as you can see he's not movin too easy, def knee to face action there. He ended up limping away with a busted lip after the cam cuts out. This just goes to show the whole dont hit it in the same place twice rule and that there is the possibility of really racking your spine.

the second one is a text book huck off the big part by Tyson.

    http://www.uvm.edu/~jcotter/waterfal...rfalltyson.mpg

third one is the 3 that i over rotate a little on. if the snow is soft you can survive. but the landing is just so flat, theres really no way to get a clean landing.

Thanks for the vids. They have me even more stoked to do it, but even more convinced that it has to be done with the right snow.

sweet hucks caddah...never saw anyone try anything off of that other than the traditional straight airs, radness. the most painful to watch was the overrated 3, but you popped right up, which was nice to see

Sounds like you haven't bushwhacked enough guy.

That landing doesn't look flat...it looks like it's uphill!...and I think I became a worse skier by watching that display of gaping

Yep....saw a bunch of tracks on it this weekend.

Meh....I'm getting too old for this sort of shit....I've got almost 50 days this year, and haven't even hit a real park jump or cliff much over 10 feet....sigh. I have nearly perfect knees and I'd like them to stay that way...

My friend launched the big part with speed yesterday, this is after a record snowfall and some more fresh on top, and he said it hurt, alot. I hit the smaller skiers right side in late OCTOBER this year, which was 10-15 feet and a perfect landing. Now, the only place I am willing to hit more than once is skiers right, from the rope you have to duck, arc 2 big turns, and hit it coming from far skiers right to middle, but still hitting the cliff on far skiers right. Don't wait for the cliff to pop, carry some speed and pop early, it will make the landing steeper and add 10 feet to the huck.

Once again, I like my body, intact preferably. There are a few 20-30 footers in bypass and X that have much better landings, but no hero factor. I never have launched off the top of the waterfall, and until we get another 30-40 inch dump, I don't see it happening. Besides, that cliff is easy, nothing technical involved. A few of the cliffs out in the woods involve some real tight smaller drops and turns above exposure, a kinda sketchy takeoff, and a much smaller, albeit steeper landing.
Three fundamentals of every extreme skier, total disregard for personal saftey, amphetamines, and lots and lots of malt liquor......-jack handy

Dude super flat landing I hit once really well during the town meeting day storm a while back, but flat nonetheless. You are better off straighlining and mini hucking skiers right. Or if we get pummeled with snow again just ski in skiers left and huck it just get ready for flat city.

I hit that thing on rentals and rear-entries when I was 14 or 15. When the cobwebs finally cleared up, I was 25 and working in financial services.

I hit that thing so hard a couple weeks ago that Anna Nicole's missing third child popped out and now I'm rich! Get some!

I think that one went "I hit a rental rear-entry, he was 14 or 15. When the itching and burning in my genitals finally cleared up, I was looking at 25 to life in MCI-Walpole."
