A question for any drummers... please...

So i just bought my first drum set; Pearl Export EXR Black w/Black hardware. I then purchased a Zildjian ZBT 4 pack online to go with it. The pack comes with a free gift. The options are listed below:

    1) ZBT 16 CRASH
    2) ZBT 8" + A BOOM STAND (stagg)
    3) 2 BOOM STANDS (stagg)
    4) ZXT 12" TOTAL CHINA
    5) 8" & 10" ZBT Splashes

Now, not being to familiar with what works best with what, I would first be attracted to the 8" with the boom stand, no need to purchase any other hardware. I think the 16" would be nice, but then I need a stand or boom arm to mount to another stand ($25 for a cheap one). The 8" and 10" sounds nice: having a ton of cymbals looks cool if nothing else but another need for more hardware.

What would be best to compliment the set and the 14"crash, 18"crash/ride and 13" hi-hats that I've already got on the way??

I can answer any further questions if needs be. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Wouldn't this be highly dependent on the type of drumming you intend to do the most of?

If you're gonna be playing kit for a jazz ensemble, perhaps the splashes aren't your thing. If you're in a Spin Doctor's cover band, perhaps they are.

I used to have two splashes and a china. Loved them all - and I wish I had them now. As far as I see it, you can never have too many cymbals. But I think at a bare minimum, two crashes and a ride are essential. But it is true that it all depends on the kind of music you're playing.

I bang the hell out of my kit so, the more noise, the better for me. Just don't let all those boom stands interfere with the other guys on stage. We played a gig last night and my bassist kept bumping into my boom stand and knocking my crash out of place.

I agree with tuffy on splashes. But I have to ask, why did you have a china cymbal? Were you in a Snapcase cover band? Anyway, you’re definitely from Florida.

How can you play Metallica songs without a china? Sheesh.

Note: not one but TWO chinas. Oh yeah.

Then there's this guy. I guess he's ok. Not one, not two, but THREE splashes!!! And, like, 25 other cymbals. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.
