    Chainguide options?

So im building up a hardtail soon. Gonna go with a 2 ring setup and a chainguide. I find it hard to believe that a little orange roller (LRP) is gonna run me almost 90 bucks. Do I have any other better and/or cheaper options? What do you guys use?

    P.S. frame has ISCG mounts....

Get an e13 DRS. Pricey at 150 or so, but worth it if you're gonna run two rings.

A lot of DHer will run a mid-30 something to 40 ring on the outer ring ( 32 just spins). Buy the DRS, it will save you A LOT OF HEADACHE.REALLY.

Yeah i had that on my FS. Chain slapped so bad it would hit the fucking fork. Okay not quite, but the front der was loud.

edit - Sweet. Ill take that front disc for sure! Ill stop by if im back in time and see what he thinks. I may drop the coin for the e13....should work with ISCGs right?

Part #-DRS.36.104C.IOLD ( E13 4 bolt, 104 mm BCD, 36t max dual thingy floppy ), assuming you have a 4 bolt crank assbl.

all i can say is that i am super sensitive to noises coming out of my bike, and i don't hear any noises w/ how mine is setup. a nice short chain and a med. cage der. will solve alot of that as well.

Cool. You rang 1 ring if I remember though. My chain will be longer by default no?

I hate how I don't know shit about bikes. pisses me off.

Thanks train. That was pretty much gibberish, but i think the options are 4 or 5 bolt, and mine are 4.

i'll build that fucker up for ya, and it won't slap

i was 2 up front (though it is currently a Singlespeed)

trust me. for how you ride, you really don't need a e-13 yet...

spend the cash on a good rear brake, and some burly handlebars and stem...

The DRS is the only option IMO. Bullits drop chains while you're standing still and I'm yet to drop one since I installed this thing.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

    Ok. Deal.

Only reason i want one is that I now despise the slapping sounds on simple trailriding, but the new ride may totally fix it. I'll hold off.

You 2 are so cute. You should exchange phone numbers, that'll save you the trouble of typing.

    bags & trainnvain-

z's issue is chainslap not dropping the chain, and is going from a rockhopper FS to a surly instigator. gree or disagree on the e-13 being overkill, especially considering he's trying to build it on a budget, and wants to swap over the shitty h-bars and wheel etc...

just curious if i am smoking crack or what

No, I think you're right. I didn't realize chainslap was the only issue.

Hardtail: Take the recommended chain length and then yank out six links or so. Yeah, you might lose yer 32 or 34t in the rear, but by the time you use that gear, you'll be humping that pig.

(and don't forget the old cut tube on the chainstay as well )
