I'll be at caberfae in cadillac on sunday, hopefully the snow is good there as well. Have a good time, and report back on conditions.

Indy- (and any other mags relegated to the Midwest)

Boyne was great this weekend. After a week of non stop dustings of very dry snow the stashs held 12 - 16" of reasonably dry pow. The groomers were in great shape and fast. Sat. saw some lines and a bit too much crowding for my tastes - even for Boyne standards. Nothing like the holiday week grid lock but enough rookies out there to make things just a wee bit dangerous. (Witnessed a mid 20's ripper blasting enormous high speed GS turns on McClouth absolutely flatten a 14 year old girl - very scary shit! The dood even had the ballz to try to blame the incident on her despite being confronted by 3 of us that witnessed it from the chair. Luckily she was not hurt. 'Trollers had to do a "no injury / did not witness it" call and the guy retained his pass.)

The woods were sick. Over the boot to knee deep and amazingly light considering it was a weeks worth of dusting - in Michigan! Talked to one guy who was up the whole week (mid winter break) who complained the snow had been too slow all week because "it was all this fluffy powdery shit".

Got my new (to me) Monsters on Thursday courtesy of Cinnepas (Thanks again!) They were awesome!!! No speed limit and the eat up crud like its not even there - and way better in the deep than my carving tools... I'm still grinnin'!!! The carving tools are very bummed and feel betrayed... they saw the way I looked at the longer / fatter / stiffer newcomers and are very jealous - I think they are plotting bad things against the Monsters. Suffice to say I have a new favorite set of boards!

No pix - forgot camera at home.

oh yeah - did get one of those fun little "temporary high speed permits" courtesy of some young gun trooper north of West Branch... bastid was trying out his new toy... some device that shuts down your radar detector... I told him it worked just fine. In appreciation he only wrote me for 5 over so no points... not a bad outcome considering the range of possibilities.

Next up - the insanity that is Carnival Weekend / Krazy Daze on St. Patties Weekend.... Don't see myself getting up there again until then.

Well - that's my weekend at the Mountain... How was yours at Caberfae?

Caberfae wasn't bad, however i was in bad shape. I was at Swiss valley with my son on saturday, and let the owner talk me into entering the big air comp. During practice, I hit the kicker waaaaaay too fast and cleared the transitionlanding 3 feet from flat. Compression on the landing caused me to flail, and loose control, spinning around, I slammed my ass into the hard/pack ice and fractured my tailbone.

Skiing at Caberfae on sunday was no treat for me (broken ass, cracked right down the middle!), but the snow was nice. My son skied great in his race and ended up 3rd. Not bad considering all the kids he raced against were all older. The 4 yr old creamed 11, 5 & 6 year olds.

Sounds like Boyne was good. Someone I race with was up there for the weekend and his report is very similar to yours. (it was prolly him who creamed that little girl. sounds like him to deny responsibility)

I won't be up for Crazy Days, but will for the last weekend in March at the Highlands.

DANG! Busted Butt? That sucks... que the mandatory quips now...

Sounds like the lttle rippers did ya proud! Way cool.

I've decided that the Krazy Days Party is not worth the premium lodging / Lifts / Food / Liquor prices... just can't justify paying double for crowded slopes and the inherant danger of drunks on ski's... I guess thats my age showing... I can remember when those would have been considered assets - not liabilities! LOL

Given that, if the conditons look good, I may be up there for the Downhill too... might even run it just for giggles... have they changed the course route to minimize the compression induced yard sales at the bottom of Olympic or will it run on MacGully again?

They continue to run down olympic when the snow is right. Last year was the first year that I have been there that it was cancelled on Oly, and everyone ran on Macgully, it was tame, but fun regardless. I hope this year we get to run on Olympic.

went to the doc today, I indeed have a fracture in my tailbone, got some good drugs and am feeling a little better.

It has a crack right down the middle, not surprising seeing that it already had a hole in it!

It's not Highlands but I'm contemplating heading to the Pinewski's rail jam some time this summer.

    Sat. Roll call.

Forecast is for 9 - 13 by Sat AM at the Mountain and 10 - 14 at the Highlands / Nubs with another 3 or so for each during that day Sat.

Anyone heading up? Will be cold as hell but possibly the best day of the year? The Trees at Nubs will be $$$... Gonna try for dropping the girls off at the Highland and skiing Nubs... but will prolly end up at the Highlands with them...

    Who's going where?

EDIT: Nubs / Highlands claim to have gotten 12- 15 in past 24 hrs with the above 10 - 14 forecasted for today / tonight.

Thinking about heading up to Crystal Sunday.
Nubs is a little too far for a one day trip and I always loved that little bowl at Crystal.
    Anyone gonna be there?
