    The Grands Envers TR

Went up the Midi again yesterday for a run down the Grands Envers (sometimes mistakenly called the Col du Plan). Conditions were pretty good and it is surprising that there is no one else going up there. I have been up there when conditions were much worse with more people around.

Back at Montenvers we had a little look around one of the old ice caves. It wasn't worth the effort of digging out the crampons and head torch. I would be fully disappointed if I had paid to go in it.

A great day out on the hill.....unfortunatley I'm out of the game for a few days due to a short fall, I slid off a lump of ice and messed up my left shoulder...there are some good before and after pics in Phil's extra pics section.

My palms get sweaty when I check out the Cham crew's TRs. You guys are brave. When was the last time you were skiing at a resort in North America and thought, "Whoa, we better rope up."

When the 2nd Annual "Motherhood of Cougars" congregated at Squaw Valley last year.

Phil - I'm drooling on some of those slopes and backdrops. Which Couloir is that behind Tom in the second pic?

Granted there are many areas in North America where roping up is a good idea, but how many that a gondola services

    Yes, I'd say that's steep.
The same slope from a different angle

Phil would have been where the Red dot is and the the yellow dot is to where the photo was taken from.

    Hi Splat

I dont know if it has a name. you never see tracks in it probably because its no better than the pitch that we are skiing but would require some effort to get into either by climbing it or by going round the top. but if you went round the top you would probably want to carry on to the top of the Plan and get a wicked glacier descent.
