    X-Wave Ankle/Heel Pack Out

I've got a high instep, medium wide forefoot and skinny heels and ankles. After about 30 days, my x-wave's are starting to pack out a little too much. I've added a heel lift and butterfly pads, and the boot is OK, but not great. If it's finished packing out, I can still work with it for the rest of the season, but might look for new boots next year. Just read all the threads I could on this subject and it seems the Solly Pro Model may be a better boot for me. My x-waves are still fitting alright, but I'm having to really crank the buckles to get any power out of the boot. Are the pro models a lot tighter in the heel and ankle than the x-waves? I was also thinking about going back to a flexon, but no matter how well it skied, it just never fit me right. Anyone ski the new Solly Falcon boots yet? Perhaps it might be worth it to wait/pay for those....

Instead of getting new boots, get some custom foam liners. The X wave is a good boot - the liner will solve your problem and will be slightly cheaper than buying a new boot.

i have a very similar foot shape to you.

i have had really good luck with the salomon course/pro shape, but expect to do a bit of trimming on the liner to get your forefoot in there...

the falcon's are sick. expect to get a good deal on pro's once the falcon's start showing up @ stores...

Had same problem with x-wave 10 and it only got worse the more I wore them. Went with lange comp 130 LF and other than first few days of being
really tight, they are best fit I have had.

    packing out

You may find this totally useless, but I'm in the same boot and have over 100 days on the original liner. I had my footbeds made by a podiatrist, and had a low profile version made for my ski boots and a full thickness version for daily/other outdoor footwear use. My boots also packed out a ton and got really sloppy after about 25 days, but since i threw in the thicker full size orthotic i've had solid fit for 75+ days. I dont know if you would get the same effect with a higher foot plate (assuming you're in a half size increment, I.E. find a 28.0 hard footbed to replace your 28.5) but I never had really good results fucking with extra store-bough orthotics or after market heel-lifts under my footbeds in any packed out boots. Custom liners definitly kick ass, but if you're broke they are pretty expensive, and you might even find an older pair of x-waves for sale at a comprable price, especially with soly dropping the line this year.

    Good luck.

Thanks. Will the Flacons be a similar, better fit than the pro's? I heard they're much lighter as well....

Any liner suggestion? Anyone out there using a different liner in their Solly's to fix this prob?

foam is the only way to go if you need to take up some space.

    super spendy though.

falcon is a shade wider in the forefoot, and a shade narrower in the heel than the course last. it is more anatomical as well, so it fits closer to your foot.

One more question. Does the Pro Model fit similar to a Flexon, or does it have a lot more instep room?
