dalbello krypton rampage questions for flexon folks

i do like my flexons pro's quite a bit, but at times i wished i had something that had a shorter cuff and was softer. this seems like it would fit the bill, no?

also, i'm a 326 flexon shell which equates to a size 29. do krypton shells go equal sizing? i.e. if you wore a 326 flexon shell, are you in the same dalbello shell size?

    thanks!

My Krypton Cross's are 28.5 with 326mm sole.
I've got more suits than Liberace, but less than Eastvailhucker.

Kryptons are roomier all around, it's a completely different fit than the flexon, definitely not a low volume boot.
I replaced mine with technica diablo 130s and after a bit of tweaking, conformables, and new footbeds, these are my new favorite boots. Great low volume fit and good burly construction.

So all the shop gusy that say "Oh that's the exact same shell fit as teh old flexon" are full of shit? Really it never crossed my mind

I'm glad I'm still in Flexons, the Kryptons fit just doesn't cut it (in fit tests.) The liner probably doesn't help much, either.

I think it is the same design idea, with the 3 piece shell.
You probably know this, since you made this thread, but tramdock has rampages on sale for $300, which seems like a good deal to me.

think so, but aren't they both adjustable with the shim thinny on the back of the cuff, between the upper and lower cuffs ?

also you can remove the upper cuff, grind some off the back and reattach to make them more upright too?

Kryptons use the identical two external heel shims as the Flexons. No shim is 13 degrees forward lean, small shim = 15, and the big one = 17 degrees on the Kryptons. If you want to go for 19 degrees you can stack them, which is what I did on my Flexons years ago when everyone was skiing 207s. The heel shims and (according to what I've seen here and on EpicSki) the Krypton tongues are interchangable with the Flexons. The Krypton Pros come with a hard and soft tongue, the Cross just comes with the soft one.

Ya, all Kryptons, Pro, Cross, Rampage, are all the same boot, but the pro comes with both soft and stiff tongues. The Cross and Rampage come only with the soft. They're coming with some OK liners for next season.

The fit of the Krypton is all in the liner. The stock Krypton liner until this point was a much higher volume than I could ski, but I have been in a thermoflex liner since the start. I got a pair of next years Dalbello/Intuition liners and man are these snug. If you are looking for a low volume fit, wait for the new liners or go with a Thermoflex.

I was told by my local shop that the Krypton shells cannot be punched out because of the type of plasic they are made of. Does anyone know if this is true?

Wolfy, you're right. I finally got some feedback from a real expert. He told me that the Krypton shell is a nylon material instead of the normal P.U. It stretches at a lower temperature, but it can be punched out.
