WWMD: What to put on Iggies? (Binding Plates?)
Alright, I've got a pair of 185 MFGS headed my way. (Skinny but I'm living out east). I am either going to throw a pair of Look p14/Solly 914 downhill bindings straight on them, or put a binding plate on them so that I can switch said alpine bindings and possibly some tele bindings.
For a binding plate I'm thinking of using something like a race stock plate that can be switched at the toe and heel for the different bindings - but will probably have to be a homebrew type contraption to fit the larger areas needed for tele and alpine. I have access to a machine shop so it won't be a total bastardization.
These skis are mostly going to be for beer league racing, skiercross, and generally railing it on hills that are forcibly entirely groomed while I'm living out east.
So it boils down to whether its worth it to be able to ski em both ways (and probably not until next season either - time needed to get the design down good) VERSUS just accepting their alpine nature, mounting them properly, and not adding weight with a plate (this season).
What should a maggot do?
If it works I could have a bigger quiver with 2-3 pairs of bindings (+ the ability to have the bindings set +- 1 or 2 cm)
Moving at the speed of a rampaging glacier.
