Nice stories, md9. Always interesting to get a sense of the preperations and thoughts that go into your lines.

RB, Ha. I did stop to take a leak while near the towers up top. I'll be sure to keep everything tucked away next time.
DTM, I hear you on the snowpack this year. The big airs have really been due to crazy wind deposits or soft sluff piles. There def' haven't been the days where you can just go huck anything and not worry. There's always been a bunch of probing needed and usually a weird crumple zone layer or two in the snow, but when you're going big you punch right though those layers. It's weird, if you were to go small on the same type of snow it might actually not feel too good as you wouldn't have the force to punch through. I've got my fingers crossed for a few big LCC snow days this season.
crash, cool. We've learned a ton more even since you were out. We've also got a bunch of areas we still need to explore.
Big E, holy crap that day sucked. I felt pretty bad about that tour. My legs hurt more that day any other day this year.snow + crap vis just rocked my feet and legs. At least if you come back you'll know it can't be any worse.
I'll be posting some pics from these stories in a few minutes.

As always GT is the photographer on these.
Here's a rock I'm going to call "the huck fin" as it has a large narrow wind fin on the ridge of the cliff. It's out of bounds as well.
The next rock is called "birdair" as I was told by another local. This shot hides it's size, but you can go pretty big off this hit. I was probably ~15-20, but another kid hit this thing closer to 30.
I've been calling this next one "sluff rock" for obvious reasons. This is the rock that GT advised me I needed more speed for and the one I got hit with sluff while standing at the top of the rock.
Here is a shot of the arch and the line that faces north of the arch. If this has been skied before whoever did it had to climb to do it. There is no way to ski into this line. The triangle is the arch (the light wasn't the greatest).
This next shot is of MOE enjoying some pow on his new Maiden's.
Here's another shot of MOE in pow. I've been referring to this area as "Saddle Light" like satelite, but it's a saddle where the light pours through on an otherwise north facing shaded wall. Again this is OB.
Here's a shot of the big rock out of bounds. I'm going to be calling it "vert rock" as it's about the only cliff here that's vertical.
And here's the full sequence of the larger air.

Nice work MD9!
"dad, do Unicorns poop."
I've been really fortunate to have a lot of free time for skiing this year. I've still got a huge list of stuff to do before the season ends and everytime we explore a new area the list just gets longer. Be sure to let me know if you're ever out this way. I know you'd go nuts here.Originally Posted by BlurredElevens

Nicely done Meat. That last air is hefty!!

Nice work.
That last huck is sick.
Since then it's been a book you read in reverse, so you understand less as the pages turn.
The things you find on the net.
FKNA man. As always GT delivers with some stellar shots. And the sluts aren't looking too bad either.
That last air is stout dude. Well done. It looks fun.
And the weekday mags appreciate!Originally Posted by meatdrink9

I want a 6" travel 20lb MTB. I found the 20lb MTB, but only good for riders under 87 pounds.
I like the huck shots, but this one is just beeeeautiful.
Edit: not to get all DaVinci code, but the shadow on that slope makes an M. Hmmm?
Wowwowwowwowwowwow!

I love the Sluff Rock shot. Props both you and GT40 for stepping up and producing some awesome photos.
Well that's kind of what I was getting at.Originally Posted by Atrain505
Nice pics J. You down for some car shuttles into new territory soon? I'm thinking there might be alot of 'vert rock' type stuff in there.
I was just thinking the other day, "it's too bad J isn't still around, we'd be nailing some shit". You posted about having 7 weeks or so left to get things done....I'm on the same page.Originally Posted by meatdrink9
I've got three main goals left this Winter, a certain cliff, a certain road gap, and a certain step-up. Hopefully will be checking one of those off the list this Thursday. I also hope I can stay out of the park keeping myself uninjured until these 3 goals are completed.
Goals are good.
GT, absolutely. We've got a lot to do and explore before the season ends. We'll have to set up a few missions with flyk if the weather stays like this for long.
flyk, I'm in. Are you talking north car shuttles, as in "only you can prevent forest fires" or south car shuttles? I'm very interested in exploring more to the south. Maybe we could meet up in Mountain Green one morning and point out some lines to each other before getting to the hill? It would also be good to find the best car drop off location. I really want to find a way to that one saddle from the top as well as head another drainage south of where you and GT had your long walk back. Getting to that one saddle might be sketch, but if you found a good route you'd have unlimited pow skiing without too much work (until the bastards find our tracks).
blurred, it's crazy how fast the season goes. It got to 68 degrees at my house today. It's probably going to take a few storms to be able to go big again out this way. The park is evil, but these warm sunny days have been tempting. I'm sure as shit not sliding rails on my maidens then jumping around on groomers like an idiot again.![]()
Damn, you guys are all inspirational and stuff. I definitely need to find a big cliff to huck. Road gaps have been one of my big goals ever since I clicked into twintips. I also need to nail a certain cat track step-down on the way to the East Vail goodness.
I'd like to do both but I think the priority is on the south side since it will go first. Hopefully the weather changes for some better conditions out there.Originally Posted by meatdrink9
Saturday re-confirmed the Basin as the undercover headquarters of sickness. Mtn. Green sidecountry needs molestation. M9, I told my buddy Strickland to get a hold of you. He loves the trouble.
