The answer for unskilled labor :

    Danger and isolation pay.

    - Alaska Fishing
    - Tree planting
    - Pimping in Uganda
    - Gold mining in Peru
    - Rough neck on oil platform

Suck it up for a few months a year grow a beard and dream of skiing.

i'll be graduating with a degree in Commercial Recreation...best choice i've ever made as far as school goes. I can work anywhere, doing pretty much anything in the outdoor industry.
...now go skiing for me, as my knee is too tweaked to ski today.
oh, ski monkey..i've been known to throw down, i thought you knew this!!

I just surf the web 24/7 .... seriously, that really is my job. web marketing consultant/online ski editor for about.com

well, actually, I just quit the full time consulting job the other day to focus on ski bum life/ small consulting projects for outdoor recreational products, ski/adventure resorts, etc.

have a standing job offer in Jackson hole right now too, I'm *seriously* considering that looking at taking a "research trip" there in Feb to check it out for the first time.

Product reps usually live the life, check out this starter job in Denver:

"As much as possible" is a very relative thing. For instance, some flatland maggots (from Los Angeles or the midwest) with loads of dough jet around in the winter constantly chasing storms around the globe and throwing gobs of money at the local coeds, usually in crowded strip joints or high priced classy bars, ending up skiing 100+ days a year.

I, on the other hand live in a resort town, but can only possibly ski one or two runs a week on the local mega resort due to my staggering obesity and my pancreatic defects incurred from my staggering obesity. Like I said, "as much as possible" is a very relative thing

Hell of a job. I loved being a brush grunt in the summer. I made more working a weekend in the summer then most kids my age made working a 40 hour week.

Me too. Same shit different place. We occasionally get enough snow here that I have an excuse to shut er down and go skiing though. I think you have more fun than us though. I don't think we have a single tree over 80' around hear. Mean while my parents place on Mercer Island dowsn't have a single tree under 80'.

Based on this comment and your intial "injury this weekend" comment in another thread, I've lost all vision of you as the pure and virginistic Swiss Miss Cocoa Girl who simply rips on skis...you now appear in my mind as a leather-clad vixen wielding a cat o' nine tails, flogging JONGS and gapers as you tear through the holiday crowds in LCC...hmmm

cool thanks guys I was just curious as to what you all do as I am in that stage of life where i need to try and decided what i want to do for a living. (get parents of my back)

I do however want to be able to live near a ski resort and be able to ski a lot without spending a fortune

Hey altachic that is a very good degree you will have. You could stay near skiing very easily. One more question are you going to the U of U?

Lumpy, screwing up mental images of AC for all!!

Can you tell when she is pissed at the knee, I know I can tell. Sounds like the gloves are ready to come off today.

AC, you are just in a rut/stagnant. It will come.

I'm always pissed at my knee buzz, just a fact of life now, but at least i'm skiing and loving it.

I'm at the U of U jack, love it, can't wait to be done in may.

Who isn't pissed off at their knees! I'm starting to get pissed off at my "good" knee this season.

I used to be a web geek for an evil empire, now i'm part of the government ski team this year.

Ski 8:30-3:30, sleep 3:10 - 6:50, work 7:05-5;30 (if you're 5 minutes late EVERY day it's more like a quirk than an nuissance), sleep 5:30 - 8. Sleeping in the winter is for bears and other furry lazy creatures.
