Props to Bourque for an unexpected result, but damn these 4th place finishes are getting painful.
Sick and ashamed and happy (and not looking good for any Canadian Alpine Skiing medals),

It's getting old seeing some Austrian, or some person named Kostelic, win every alpine skiing medal in the Olympics.
Not as old as seeing the Canucks (Guay, Bourque, Vanderbeek) coming so close to the podium. I'm sure we have the most 4th place finishes now. Participation ribbons all around!

Ray Bourque and James Vanderbeek can do it ALL!Originally Posted by gincognito

Give Kjetil Andre Aamodt the love he oh so much deserves, folks!
12 years after his first olympic gold medal he does it again! He now has 4 olympic golds, more than anyone else in alpine olympic history!
Or to use the words of bode miller after his silver medal in the combined event in salt lake olympics (2002): "If you give a guy like Aamodt a chance, he's going to win the gold. So, I gave him a chance today, and he won the gold...."
He is a phenomenon. Maybe the best norwegian sportsman ever.
All work and no play, ... you know...
So happy for Raich and even though he managed only Bronze today, the Herminator was smiling. He didn't win Gold at these Olympics, but winning two medals in 3 events after a life-threatening crash is pretty damn amazing nonetheless.
It was a day of celebrations in the Austrian with Dorfmeister and Meissnitzer placing 1 and 3 in the Women's Super G - a much needed distraction from the awful events of the last few days ...

Looks like people are talking about two different races (but the title of the thread does say Super G)
Giant Slalom
gold: Benni Raich (AUT)
silver: Joel Chenal (La Rosière )
Bronze: Hermann Maier (AUT)

Actually, I remember skiing with Aamodt back in 93 at a Timberline summer race camp - I thought he was the mang back then too.
