I was a dumb ass 16 year old kid working in a gas station so I could afford my dumb ass season pass.

If I had a gun, I would have shot them both in the back as they exited the store. I wouldn't have needed the cops to do that. But unfortunately, I wasn't armed that day.

Actually, I'm pretty sure I'd be just fine if the concept had been vastly different from the onset. Law enforcement and the criminals it needs to stay in business are a self perpetuating social cancer. There's a reason why we (America) incarcerate more people than any country in the world and it's not because we are gentically inclined to comit crimes. It's a dog chasing it's tail that began when slavery ended and racism had to find a more cloaked home in our society. In urban environs the police are the new slave masters, hired to keep the disenfranchised under control and corralled in certain areas. Would anarchy (as you seem to be hinting at) solve the problem? Perhaps, but most don't have the stomach for it in the same way they don't have the stomach for literal capitalism. Let's just not hide it behind false pretences ok?

The USA is the most successful expierment ever. What you have outlined above are some of the problems from that expierment, but nothing's perfect. One of those problems, poverty, accounts for most of the problems, which I go into deeper on your next quote.

It is human nature to take the easy route, and for some, that is drugs. Those hurting from poverty need an out. Drugs provide that. Drugs help with peoples outlook and keep them sane in a crazy world. The root of that crazy world is money. If you have no money, you have PROBLEMS. Lots of them. It's very easy to escape that with drugs. That's where your blackhole begins. Drug addicts can't haul their ass in as a respectable citizen to a job interview, so they resort to making money in other ways, which is crime. Police work to prevent that. Whether you wish to believe it or not Truth, if it wasn't for Police, you'd be robbed.....A LOT. Don't let your ego get in the way saying "you haven't been robbed because you have street smarts", it's because the police do their job. It's really too bad you don't understand this, and instead thank them. And sure, their egos annoy me too, but in the end it's for the best.

Racism didn't have to find a "more cloaked home". Poor people in a capitalistic society only started the race 200 years (to be very generous) after the gun went off, only to find themselves playing catch-up. It's not a black thing, it's a poor thing. Just more blacks happen to be poor due to what I just outlined. Still lots of poor white trailer trash. Ever watched COPS? Plenty of white people on there too. (and save the minority/percentage of blacks to whites ratio crap, you may learn something here)

I think we're on a more simliar page than your post suggests. You and iceman want to segragate race and poverty. I'd argue they are forever entwined. The huge discrepency in ethics (work, family, education) between the hispanic and black populations here in Chicago would serve as my example but that's a digression from the main thrust of the argument at hand.

You questioned if my life would be as cozy without the police. I retorted by questioning the basis for the police state we live in. Clearly eliminating the police this late in the game is impossible, but it does not justify the system that requires them.

Is anarchy really about bank robbing? I dunno. I feel that it too would find a balance in time where by people would eventually cease to lash out against each other for fear of said person defending himself. Is this any more naive than believing that the current state of affairs is really sustainable? How many more prisons will we fill before we address the root of the evil? All I know is that guys with badges and guns are not the solution, only a symptom of a much greater problem.

Everyone wants to blame drug use on poverty and fight the war on drugs, but the real issue is one of hope. For those that fall into the lower rungs of the socail order there is none for the entire system is built upon their backs. This country needs poverty to maintain social order. It's the fear of poverty that keeps the middle class from revolting. For it would cost them thier jobs, houses, etc. It's leverage that the minority in power use to stay there. Always has been.

On a side note, I appreciate the rational discussion of somewhat irrational topics. Some folks here don't seem capable of actually dealing with views that differ from their own. Kinda ironic that racism follows those same guidelines.
