    Too many rambo journalists.

Aside from that, I hope you're doing well.

Aside from Tonsil Varnish's stuff the Denver Post isn't fit to line a bird cage or wrap fish.

    Seriously.

I find it disconcerting that among the numerous articles being written about how badly Bode has lost it (written by people who don't follow the World Cup, mind you), I've seen literally NO mention of his brother Chelone's near-fatal motorcycle accident. No mention of how this experience may have distracted Bode from his training and conditioning regimens. No mention of how the trauma of watching his brother get seriously hurt doing something dangerous may have caused him to lose some of that edge.

The fact is, these journalists either know these things and ignore them (making them heartless), or never bothered to research and find them out (making them irresponsible and ignorant).

Either way, I'm with Bode all the way here. Since when do we NOT expect Bode to lead a race by 5 seconds, only to straddle? Since when do we NOT expect Bode to finish top-5? And since when do we expect Bode to give a shit what anyone else thinks of him?

I just wrote that idiot an e-mail. What people in the US seem to forget is the fact that Bode was ONE of the favorites in this race, and the OTHER one did the same thing.

I don't think he's a slacker. Just because he was philosophical about his results in both events doesn't mean he doesn't care. Bode's comment that he still would have finished second to Deneriaz had he skied faster sounded like good sportsmanship to me.

I can speak from first hand experience. It's a combination of both.

I can't wait till all the media asshats go back to watching football. Watching racing once every four years hardly qualifies you as an expert.

MSNBC ran a piece on how Rhalves had never won any big events.

The whole point is to get people to read your story. It doesn't have to make sense or have been researched. I mean we are talking about and we all had to click on that website. That is the point not to really inform anyone just to make people interested so they click on the website and tell there other friends who click on it. There website counts go up. Sponsors pay more money for increased hits. So a stupid article that creates a little bit of interest makes them money. Not a carefully researched article.

I've never sent a writer an e-mail...until now. I wouldn't wipe with the Denver Post.

It was a columnist for the Denver Post. A sports columnist. An opinion piece, not an article. I'd say it did it's job - get people fired up and writing indignant letters (I'm sure they'll be some right-ons from the stick & ball crowd too).

Fames a 2-edged sword and a bitch. Welcome to the big-bad world. When you write an autobiography you can't say you don't care what others think. Some here want skiing to be a bigger sport with more money, better athletes and more attention. There is a negative side too.

Mark Kizla is an idiot and doesn't know the first thing about World Cup ski racing. How can you say Bode has not done well when he finished 5th in the DH, .09 sec out of a medal, every single top DH'er is as good as the next on any given day. And did you see how close he missed that gate by in the slalom? Just cause in life their are things more important than winning an Olympic Medal, he already has a few. Kizla is a schmuck.

Ski Racing is a mind game. It's like batting in baseball - you get hot and hit slumps. If your head is right, your game is on, and you are successful. When its off, you settle a few places back in the pack, or you eat some shit. Winning requires 100% confidence, and that comes by in a cyclical manner. That's why you don't usually see someone winning every single race in a discipline for extended periods of time. Someone gets hot, cools off a little, and another competitor steps up. The Olympics are just another race to these guys, and in ski racing, you have to evaluate success based on the bigger, long term picture. He hasn't been feelin' it, but he'll be back. The timing for his momentum was not right for this Olympics. Oh well.

Find me an article that Kizla is not hateing on something. They guy is an absolute tool in my book. I used to get the Post everyday and all his "stories" had pretty much the same tone to them. A real no talent hack.

A lot of talking heads have been downplaying Bode's performance. I like the PTI guys, but usually I'm not emotionally invested in what they have to say. Once they started talking about Bode, I was and I'll admit that I was upset. Not because it's Bode, but because he's a skier. They thought that since he's been touted as the best that he should be a given to win. Just because you're the best doesn't mean you're going to win. This is the case in many sports, like golf for instance. Tiger doesn't win every tournament. There's tons of variables.
