My ski shop butchered my skis today...

i would describe myself right now as being mad to very mad.....

I decided to drop off 2 pairs of skis to get a quick tune at my local shop.....it is in central NY but its a pretty decent place and it was a simple tune. I even made sure i told em what i wanted etc...they assured me that even though they don't deal with fat skis, tuning them would be no problem.

Today i go to pick them up and my Gotamas, thank god turned out well but my Inspireds are shredded. You know that little powder groove or whatever at the tip, well whatever they did ripped through the base so my tips are basically filed down to the core........

I didn't flip my shit but i was stern with them and they were very apoligetic....the owner is going to talk to me tomorrow about a solution, possibly replacing my skis.....

I'm not sure what to do - on one hand its the base at the tip so it shouldn't affect the ski that much....BUT they did mess up my bases and it's irreversable.......so should i insist on some new 8800s? Sorry to ramble but its not what i needed today....central NY sucks...

sounds like they owe you a new pair of skis.

there is no reason to grind that high up on the shovel of any skis ever.

    and to the core???

I took a brand new pair of skis to a shop in town here and they fucked up the mount twice because they did not have a wide enough jig. I was super pissed, but they bought me new ski so I was only out a couple of weeks of riding. Still pissed me off somehting fierce.

New skis for you are definitely in order. Sweet deal for you!!

the simple fact of the matter is that you expected your skis to be in better condition than when you left them, not worse. But for their actions, you would have good skis. Take the skis man.

Outsourcing the tunage is a risky business sometimes.

Don't settle for anything less than new skis, or the cash equivelent.

As already echoed by the collective. The shop fucked up, he should reimburse you for that.
