    MRG Vertical Challenge

    Who's going to be there?
    Anyone ?
    .... anyone?

    Bueller?

Well, Skijunky and I went out today and scouted... 25 pic spread of the run.

that course smells like about 10 broken legs and 5 or 6 concussions to me.

Huge geek out... but just doing the math. The comp is from 9a-4p.

If the average time up the lift is 12 mins. then to get first place last year, one would be spending either 4h48m (women's total 24runs) or 5h (men's total 25runs) on the single chair. If you are hitting an open chair every run and pissing in a bottle on the ride up, then the average lap time should be 5.5m (women) and 4m48s (men.)

I was told the most runs was 28, so that meant 5h36m on the chair. Math = 28 runs, three minutes everytime.

I'm spent.... sorry for the geekage (esp. if my math is f'd up.)

Dylan Crossman won it on tele gear a couple years back with 27 laps, I believe. Which is f'ing ridiculous.

Last season two brothers went 1/2. What was most impressive is that they were 16 and 11 at the time.

Just a little bump to see if anyone else was going to be there.

    This just in:

"Hello all hopeful Vertical Challenge Participants!

We have some bad news regarding the Vertical Challenge. We have had to
postpone it -and we are tentatively scheduling it for March 10th. For any
of you who are not familiar with the winter (or lack there of) that we have
had here at MRG, the reasons for postponing the event are due to
insufficient snow coverage on Chute & Lift Line. If there are any further
changes regarding the Triple Crown events, we will update you immediately.
Please let us know if you will not be able to attend the Vertical Challenge
on March 10th. Thank you for your patience as this is frustrating to all of
    us.
Hope to see you up here soon,
    MRG"

    Bummer.

yea, a bummer, though the weather forecast has been pretty foreboding since last weekend. too bad it wasn't last weekend; the course was soft+fast, and i skiied likely my best day ever at MAD in anticipation of the challenge tomorrow...just hoping for better circumstances march 10! well, the silver lining is i won't be getting up at 3am tomorrow, after a late nite last nite...still a disappointment (

i could be wrong, but my understanding is that the challenge contestants go straight to the chair via the staff/patrol line...the $25 entry fee would in effect be payment for that priviledge...

wow, that's a lot of chair time...hmm pissing in a bottle on the single...hadn't thought of that. did a google search for "sports diaper" though ;-)
