Save That Cast. Lose That Smell ?

So, I got my wrist cast removed on Friday, 2/10

The cast-tech girl who took it off is a skier (K-weed), and knows I've been skiing with the cast on (against Drs advice).
She suggested I keep the 2 halves of my cast & duct tape it back on when I ski, because my wrist is still "soft", the cast should offer more protection, than the "splint" they gave me, if I fall.

It worked out ok (skied twice)...except the cast smells pretty skunky
    It's bearable, but not pleasant.

Any ideas how to get rid of the (my) stench ?

So far I've just used Iso alcohol, and put it in an open window.
Don't want to use Febreeze as I've heard it poisons cats (got 2).

I guess it'll only be another couple of weeks, so I can just put up with it, or start wearing Teen Spirit, or something

How long has it been since the initial injury?

Having a wrsit that is healed enough to be out of a cast but not healed enough to not be casted with activity doesn't make sense.

If the doc gave you the green light to continue activity without the cast then what is the point of using it? IMO if your wrist is healed, then the splint should be enough protection.

unless the doc didn't give you the go ahead......?

Broke 1/3. 2 casts, with different hand positions.
He's given me some exercises, and I'm going back in 2 weeks.
The doc doesn't want me skiing, (or biking, which I can understand). He says the chance of falling, and bending the wrist back, is too great.
She didn't think the splint would give me any protection from that kind of fall.

You think I should dump that skanky cast ?

That one should be pretty obvious. If it killed household pets it wouldn't be on the market as something you should be spraying on your sofa and clothes. Don't believe everything you read in a chain email.

But I don't know anything about what you should be doing for your wrist. Listen to Vinman and your doc.

    I never tried the Febreeze.
Went skiing with just the brace on Saturday. Everything went fine. Dumped the cast, returned the duct-tape
Had the wires from my jaw removed this morning and paid the first ($2000) instalment for getting my teeth & jaw shoved back into place
    It's only $$'s
